Debate Success - Worth an Update?

I recently went to my last debate tournament before decisions come out (everything but States is done) and my partner and I have the second-highest win percentage in our league (which covers most of my state), in addition to 1st or 2nd place trophies at the majority of tournaments this season. Would this be worth an update? I’m concerned because, while the league is fairly large and many of our local debaters are extremely talented, these are not exactly national tournaments.
Also, if I do update, should I emphasize that this is more success than our debate team has ever seen? My school has a small program (we do not travel to out-of-state tournaments or have an experienced coach) and I am 100% self-taught, but I’m not sure if this would be seen as a positive or a negative, especially coming from an affluent school (that just doesn’t prioritize debate). Thoughts on this? Suggestions for wording, if applicable?

It’s debatable as to whether or not you should update schools on your recent debate activity.

Debatable because while your recent activity is a positive, it may seem trivial to your targeted schools since you have already noted debate as an EC.

I just realized that I forgot to include some important info:

  • The schools I’m still waiting to hear from are mostly T20’s
  • In the awards section, I listed that we had won one tournament this year and that I had won a debate-like activity as an individual a few years prior. Those are the only mention of debate success (although I obviously described my involvement in debate in the activities section)

Thank you for any additional advice

Still debatable as to whether or not an update to your targeted schools is warranted.
