At the end of this school semester, I'm going to take the SATII Chemistry test since I will just be finishing up AP Chemistry. I plan to apply to GaTech and UGA so I'm just taking this test to try and get course credit (They do not require any SATII tests). I really want to try and get a Literature class out of the way, also, so I'll only have to deal with one in college. I feel pretty confident in chemistry, since I only need a 720+ to get credit, but literature is a bit iffy. I would need to make at least a 750 to get credit. I plan to get Barron's for chemistry and would also get Barron's for literature, if I decide to take the test. So do you think it would be worth it to study for about a month or two for the literature test and try for the 750, or should I just toughen up and accept I have to have two college lit classes?

I didn't study at all for lit and made an 800 easy. If you study, you should be even more prepared.

^ heh that doesn't make the Lit test easy at all. It has VERY high percentiles for scores...

An 800 in Lit is 99th percentile, and an 800 in Physics is 92%

Literature also has the lowest median score. Although I suspect these are because more people take Literature, you shouldn't underestimate it!

So lolcats4, do you suggest I study for the lit test for a about a month or two and attempt the test? Or do you think it'll be a waste of time?

I agree with lolcats. the averages are lower, but I think that's because many people feel like they can take a literature test at an advanced level. many can't. However, if I told many of my very bright friends to take a subject test, 3/4s would NEVER pick something like physics or chemistry. it's just a much less popular subject.

Also, I would argue that Lit is one of those tests that are very easy and don't require a lot of study time, IF you're a natural at it. I aced CR, SAT II Lit, and AP Lit, so obviously literature is my thing. I didn't study for any of those. It's very similar to those people who say "bah! you're studying??!!! for MATH?!! It's so simple!" lol you get my point. If math/sciences are your thing, then DEFINITELY study for lit, because it'll be tough. If you read book after book just for the sake of fun and intellectual enrichment, you'll fly through it (I was done with 10 minutes+ I think)

Yeah...I love math and science to death lol. I took AP Language last year and did pretty well in the class, but it still was a pain. I'd be willing to study a good month+ for the test, I just didn't how difficult the SATII test could be and if studying would increase my score on that.

some would disagree, but for me, AP Lit and SAT II Lit were almost exactly the same (except the SAT doesn't have the 3 essays lol).

I absolutely hate writing essays in a timed fashion. I'd much rather solve a huge math problem lol. I might go ahead and get the barron's book and study it like crazy and do my best on the test. Thanks for all the help!

Don't take literature. It's a hell a hard.
