Dec 4th SAT-II Physics

it didnt say that it was a wire, it just say a blob lol

closest to the objects center? we werent really sure, what did u put and why

Asbereth, if the question was what you think it was then you would be correct; but I'm pretty sure they were asking which wasn't possible during the "period", not the rest of the rope. Therefore, it would be the one with the 2 bumps. Can anyone confirm if that was the question?....

Oops, I got that conservation of momentum wrong.. Yay, I did get 1.5 for the other one though. The way I thought about it before I even did out the equations was that not only does that one car have to stop the other car when they stick together but push it along the opposite direction so they won't be going very fast. What about the one with the five charges between two plates? I guessed the answer that said there is no net force on x because it was between the two plates, but I'm sure...

cjsb0160, most of the questions are concept questions so you don't need to know an exact equation though you do need to know the relationships between different qualities. What does a graph of velocity with constant acceleration look like? What happens to a charge particle when it enters an electric field? When do certain quantities like kinetic energy increase or decrease? Certainly don't bother memorizing any constants. They even told us what g was in a problem!

sneveu- there was an electric field going upwards so there was a force going up(charges are positive so they experience a force in the direction of the field). the force was constant because the field was

oh yea, at what angle between the force of an electric field and a current carrying wire does it do the most work? or whatever the question was, i put 0 degrees? i think its either 0 or 90

90 degrees. i think it asked for angle between a wire and the magnetic field. force is max when it is 90o

why 1.5 m/s? I put 3 m/s, although it seemed wrong, but I was just completely burned out at that point. Since the masses are the same, and momentum is mass times velocity, wouldn't you just subtract 3 from 6?

thats what i put...

23 + 2-6 = 6-12 = -6
-6=MV
-6=2*V
V=-3
V=3

1.5 was for the inelastic

what was the question again?

how is it solved, i dont remember what i did.

(mv)+(mv)= (m1+M2)v
23+2-6=(4)v
v=3/2

ah ic... mmm i dont remember doing that

i remember doing the question though, just dont remember what i put for the answer.. :/

o YEAH, ARG...more reasons to hurt myself. I completely forgot that mass was doubled because the cars stuck together :-(

haha i just wanna know what i got.. long two weeks, waiting to hear from duke and then waiting for my sat ii's :)

sneveu- there was an electric field going upwards so there was a force going up(charges are positive so they experience a force in the direction of the field). the force was constant because the field was

Ah, thanks, that makes sense. I reread my post and I actually meant to say that I wasn't sure.

is this the question about the two plates that were connected and the electric potential was 100v and they told you the distance between the plates(it was like 10m) ???

i didn't think you needed the distance, and i'm not sure what i put what's the answer????

no that was the question about what is force felt by the positive charge x at various positions between the plates (it would feel the same force everywhere)
that question with the two plates was a tough one. i think i got it though.
100=V
100=U/q
100=Feq/q
100=Ed
E=100/.1=1000 N/C
you don't need q b/c it cancels (they also don't tell u q)

ok thanks, i remembered two more:

one question that had a diagram and I'm not sure what it asked for(it looked like a distorted oval) and you had to choose a point on it, i remember picking the point closer to its tip, b/c i thought more charge is concentrated there
remember that q???

someone else asked this before but i don't think anyone ankwered it:
the insulator and conductor question:
choices were like: rubber,glass,silk,copper,steel...
