December 2009 SAT curves**

@shaheiruddin…Yeah I am surprised as to the generosity of this curve…no offense to anyone who didn’t do as well as they expected/hoped, but I thought the math was pretty straightforward and not too tricky. The wolf question (last grid in question) was doable if you could set up an equation, changing the words of the problem to numbers and variables. This is the only 800 I’ve ever gotten in math, practice or real (got a 660 freshman year). Also, I don’t recall any rate problems or complex combination/permutation problems, all of which usually trip me up. The one probability/combination problem on there that I remember (the triangles with numbers), was a low number so you could draw out each combo to check your answer. So I just got lucky I suppose. Nonetheless, I believe that there was a general consensus in the Math thread for this test that there would be a harsher curve. Just goes to show CCers are fallible and that the small amount of posters is not guaranteed to represent the US population lol.

CR: -1; 800
M: -0; 800
W: -0; 800 (mc:80, e:11)

Not a perfect score in the literal sense.

CR: Numbers wrong: 16 wrong, 0 omit
Raw Score: 47
Score: 600

M: Numbers wrong: 4 wrong 0 omit
Raw Score: 49
Score: 730

W: Numbers wrong: 7 wrong
Essay: 8
Score: 620

So the new math curve is…

54 800
53 790
52 770
51 750
50 730
49 730
48 700

I can’t believe I did so badly

50 is 740. for maths.

What? 50 and 49 raw score are both 730? Are we sure about this one?

Maths: 740 (3 wrong = raw score 54-3-0.75=50.25=50)

Corrected curve:

December 2009 Math:

54 800
53 790
52 770
51 750
50 740
49 730
48 700

Wow the math must have been a bit harder than usual for such a lenient curve.

ok, for math, if you missed 3 (and ONE/TWO were grid ins), your score was 740

BUT, if you missed 3 (and ALL were multiple choice), your score was 730

it’s that guessing penalty that makes the 10 pt difference

(and mr. propaganda took the international version)

International
CR Raw score 59 = 710
M Raw score 54 = 800 M
W MC Raw score 48, E11 = 800

ummm acutally, the score is perfect in the literal sense. it’s your CR raw score that isn’t perfect… duh

For math I received a score of 720
Raw score: 49
Wrong answers: 4

I’m an international test taker and I wonder why someone else in this thread receives 730 for the same raw score…

Sure, the composite score may have been perfect, yet due to the mild degree of leniency associated with the CR curve (and the W curve with a favorable essay score), most perfect scores are not “perfect.” In fact, it is possible to miss up to five questions (in the right places, of course) and still obtain a “perfect” score.

Not sure if anyone cares about this one anymore, but -2 on CR was an 800.
