i think in regards to is an error. technically it's fine, but it's nonstandard, and collegeboard is testing for "standard" english, so...

me too, i had 3 no errors. and on the practice test (QAS) i did night before, there were 4, so i thought there should be one more...

but foldedpaper, you are right, in regards to is an error:
In regard(s) to?
The Oxford Dictionary of American Usage and Style says, "The singular noun is correct. The plural form (as in with regards to and in regards to) is, to put it charitably, poor usage....The plural regards is acceptable only in the phrase as regards" (Garner 286).

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

i remember a few questions- although i don't know if i put the right answers or not lol

african
1. example of mother who got money in exchange for her daughter's marriage- cursory acceptance of custom that degrades its value??
2. "to him he had just paid for her"- parallels daughter's condemnation at the tradition?
3. lens- daughter distorts custom vs. western anthropologists misinterpret

art passage
1. purpose- advocate unfettered expression of art vs. describe??
2. the long example on scientists and philosophers- public opinion parallels scientific guesses?
3. last paragraph shifts focus to public's reaction of art vs. author's bias
4. the public dislikes those who fail to portray contemporary subjects in art?

for many of those i put my answer vs. some other's

does "same" means that u chose the former one ?

Hey, did you guys ever notice that SAT really like to take passage from African American Literature?

i usually get 700-750, but that was two months ago...i haven't practiced since then

i didn't do well at all today. i would be happy with anyting above 650 to be honest.

luckycoin--want to pm me your msn?

African:

for 2. i got the westerners/anthropologists misinterpretation of custom because the daughter condemning the practice isn't parallel to misinterpreting a dowry for bride price/fee--which she thinks anthropologists/westerners believe (because of their lens)

Art:
1. same
2. i put the public allows some fields more room to push boundries (scientists would be shocked if the public morphed their opinion is what it said, even though a lot of the time the public has) the point was that now, scientists are able to make statements/discoveries without having to care about public opinion (it went against public opinion)
3. i got it shifts from creative aspect of art to it's societal impact, because he begins by talking about how art is only good if its for pleasure and how it should be pushing boundaries and it should be new and creative and blah blah blah, and ends with the effect of pushing boundaries has on society (it keeps things fresh by working as an "adversary (another one of my answers)" to society (in the end, he still talked about the public's opinion, the public doesn't like innovation, and in the beginning his opinion was still pretty biased (art isn't art unless it's for pleasure)
4. i got the public dislikes those who flaunt individualism over community, which is the argument of individual against the common likes of society (anyway, contemporary art would be the art of today, the author was advocating for the art of tomorrow, pushing boundaries, not repeating them)

yup. and i have a feeling that i did them wrong....

sure, mine is luckycoin777@hotmail.com
