December SAT Int. test

o i got 1/2 for the painted cube one, SORRY FOR THE CROSSPOSTING

for the art passage public dislike question.. i put contemporary cuz the last paragraph was talking about novelty and i thought individualism had nothing to do with it.. anyone agree with me?=(

foldedpaper and student- i got the same answers as you!

hmm what did you guys get for the purpose of the valves malfunctioning? i was debating b/w showing the disparity or showing human frustration.. ah

does anyone remember what the specifics of the 1/16 question was? i remember it had a colored square in a big square cut up into little triangles. what was the square's side length?

luckycoin, i put contemporary instead of individualism too..well, but who knows. sigh

the square's length was 4 i think.. i got 1/16 for that too

do you guys remember the questions/answers for the author and his friendd passage?
that one was so confusing! oh and the valves.. lol thats the one i spent the most time on...

the large square had a side length of 4, the small square a side length of (root)2, making the are 2/16=0.125. also it showed disparity, the frustration one was like scientists frustration with the physical aspect of things and it was kind of out of scope (doesn't really have anything to do with scientists who invented the robot/computer, just what the robot/computer/machine feels)

i put disparity for the malfunction of valves..

i was pretty confident at that time but now.. hew

i just did it again, i'm sure it's 0.125=1/8. i can post solution if you want but it'll be messy (i don't know how to make squared signs/root signs on cc)

ohh, did you guys get that the purpose of mentioning the french in the 18th century was to show that people were always fascinated with machines?

and theree were a few other questions relating to that last paragraph.. dont remember tho

yea, it was people have always been fascinated by new technology (not the similar answer that was limited to europeans though)

orbit, did that question include the part about alarm clocks?

i know the question was directed at orbit, but yes, it was about mechanical clocks

wait, that question was like about a quote that said "the invention of mechanical clocks amazed the French in the 18th century, and they called it human or whatever"

o i don't clearly remember the quote, something about people continuing to call new technology human and then tossing it aside later as simple machine

yeahh.
do you guys remember the answer for the question asking about the quote at the end of the machien passage?

hmm, the hawk-v-elk onee.. was the difference that it showed a single person procedure v involving many ppl?

can anyone tell me which passage the 'malfunctioning valves' was on and what the question was and some of the answer choices? i totally forgot that one.

was there an answer choice about innovations that were once thought to be fascinating now became trite?

or was that a different question?

foldedpaper , pls pls post the solution. i dont remember whether i put 1/16 or 1/8! if i get that question wrong, im gonna be so so sad, it was an easy one! ARGHH. im sure i did that question confidently on test day...now that people are posting different answers, i dont remember what i put! ><

i think that's what i put lucky, for the quote

hawk v. elk = same =)!

the malfunctioning valves was the Turit passage (can machines think?), answer choices included "physical concerns of scientists", "disparity between human/machine", "people feel grief when machines fail", umm.. don't remember the other two
