do you think my scores in sat II wil make up for the sat Is????
thnx
btw, is anyone else having problems with sending their sat scores??

Math 2C: 800
Physics: 660 (will retake in January as well as writing).

800verbal 800maths.
it's my 6th SAT I... so don't give up guys

omg, purplefish.. your scores are damn good (even it's the sixth time).
I got my score for dec... I kinda screwing up. I got 1370, just abit higher than my previous one (1350). And I have no chance to take it again.
Btw, i got very strong recs, A-level degree with 4 A an 16/24 full-mark units. But the sucky verbal killed all my hope. My reach school is Dartmouth and Washington and Lee.I dun know what my really chance to get into those schools :(

Where're u from Duncanctc? I am from Singapore.

er... I'm from Vietnam which is very close to your country. I did my A-level in England and now taking a gap year. I got admitted to Imperial College, but I had to defer it becoz of not affording the tuition fee. So, you know the reason why i want to apply to American Unis rite :D

purplefish, what were ur first scores?
Did you find that doing SATs 6 times helped you to get ur 1600? (such as, did u learn how to pace your time, what kind of quesions would come up, etc..)

Im going to take my first SAT I in January.. I think it's too early though.. I dont know. I might take the SAT I 4 times.. is that too much? It's either 2,3 or 4 times..

NoFX - (it's me rmbr? the one with the computerized brain thingy?) most people take the SAT twice, and most people improve tremendously on the second sitting (not applicable to those waiting for extra scores to rain from the sky onto their laps). i took the first time and got a lousy 1250. when i took it the second time it shot to 1500.

I think 3 is the maximum anyone should take the SATs. Except for purplefish, scores rarely improve alot after the 3rd sitting. Taking too many times may make the adcom wonder if the applicant is too focused on being perfect. IMHO.

SAT II from dec. 780iic, 640 writing (retaking in jan), 630 bio (retaking in jan)
sat I culminative 3 tries (1400)

Oh.. for my case because my first few tests were all taken 2 to 3 years back. (and luck wasn't on my side back then... whenever I scored a 700+ for verbal, I will get 1 or 2 qns wrong for my maths and when I get a 800 for maths, my verbal will kinda slip below 700... my culmulative best verbal and best maths score was okay.. it was 1550 before my ehh.. 6th test)

And since I have to serve in the Singapore Army... and it's quite boring so I guess I could better spend my time studying the barron's wordlist... well.. guess it helps if you are (like me) forced to stay in a camp for weeks and months and have nothing else better to do... :)

After taking the test quite a few times, my advice for those Jan test takers is that be very very very careful for the maths (the questions aren't hard, just tricky) and as for verbal, try to get everything right for sentence completion and analogy (that's where the wordlist comes in handy) since you are bound to have 1 or 2 errors in reading comprehension (of which you could still get a 800).

Best of luck to all those still trying for the 1600. :D

NoFX: In case you are not aware, the Jan SAT I will be very different from the subsequent SATs. From the look of it, SAT I verbal is becoming more like SAT II Writing. But I am glad that the analogy is out... great news for all of us internationals :)

1330
800M 530V
i am an international student
will the verbal scoree affect my chances getting into the tp engineering universities

My first Subject tests SAT, it went really bad... but I can't retake them, because the deadline was December...
Writing:520
MathIC:700
Latin:590
And my SATI was Verbal 540 and Math 640, also a first time. but the timing was also really bad, I didn't get a chance to practise and stuff, because I had to study for stupid exams.
