I’m pretty much stuck between Emory University and Boston University. I was accepted to Emory’s Oxford College which is rather small. I like how BU is nestled right in the city. Emory is small town, but luckily Atlanta and the Emory College campus is easily accessible. I do wish it was in the city though. I have yet to tour both campuses, but I find BU’s campus to be more beautiful imo. I’m also getting significantly more money from Boston, an $18,000+ difference for all four years. I was thinking of trying to transfer to Emory College if I find I really don’t like Oxford. I also like how BU is way bigger in terms of student size. I sort of dislike the idea of Oxford’s small size, bc my school was rather small and not diverse. Oxford, however, is way more diverse.
Either way, I really want to be at Emory, whether it be transferring from Boston or going through Oxford/transferring from Oxford. Emory University was one of my top schools, my second choice, in fact, right after Duke.
One other thing to note is my original plan was to go to the South because I HATE the cold. I mean I could survive, but I’d prefer not to deal with it lol.
If anyone can give any advice or knowledge about those two schools that can help me decide between the two, that would be great. I know I said a lot, but I just wanted to get all my thoughts out there. I believe also both schools deflate their grades which concerns me.
Visit!! My son is at Oxford Emory and loves it. But it is VERY small, and there isn’t a ton going on. I am afraid with your attitude going in, you will really dislike it.
Is the money difference irrelevant?
Emory is more highly regarded fyi.
But those two campuses are pretty much polar opposites, so no one can choose what would be best for you, except you.
Definitely try to tour both campuses before deciding. The Oxford campus is a ways outside of Atlanta. Can you see yourself there for 2 years? BU makes more sense financially. If grad school is in your plans, maybe aim go to Emory for grad school.

That’s not a lot of Money for Emory or Oxford. That’s about 4.5k a year, that certainly very generous in my opinion, as it’s close to BU’s price yet BU and Emory aren’t peers in a traditional sense.
If you attend Oxford, you’re sure to move to Emory for jr/sr years with a tiht knit group of friends.
If you attend BU, odds are you wont be able to transfer to Emory for two reasons;
because most freshmen don’t leave and the Oxford students are coming up so there are very very few spaces
AND
transfers get lousy aid, so if you attend Oxford to get to keep your financial aid to attend Emory - but if you attend BU, you will be a regular transfer and will have to pay full costs. If you don’t have the money… Emory won’t happen.
So, take the sure thing that’s also the most inexpensive and the one that keeps you closest to Emory: go to Oxford.
