Ok, I know to make the best decision you can about going to a certain school, you should visit the campus, try and see if you would fit in, etc...But a lot of the schools I am applying to are far away, but most have very good reputations in majors I may want to pursue or schools that I like and that I could some decent merit $ from.

So, I bet kids from CC have done this, how did you like to your decision to attend Blank U, without ever being on the campus before. What did you do, or what would you have done to get a better feel for the school?

Ive never been to a college campus at all and I still applied to a bunch of cool sounding/looking places I look at it as just another iminent surprise

I'm applying this year, but I would never myself. I didn't get a chance to visit everywhere I applied, but I fully intend to visit everywhere I get accepted (even if it's a second time). I suppose it's comparable to high school in a sense - sure, you don't get to decide the atmosphere, people, etc and we all survived, but if you're going to be given the chance? I want to be sure of my decision, and be informed.

I am applying to 6 schools and out of those 6 i only visited 2. I just try to get a feel for the campus and sometimes there are virtual tours and such. I know its not the same, but atleast in my situation traveling is not an option

I have visited many colleges, and the visit is definitely helpful in determining whether the school would be a good fit. However, like hmom5 said, if you can't visit, definitely look in to that company (don't know the name).

I think it's a good idea to visit, but not everyone visits- and sometimes, you can turn out okay even if you've never visited the college before. My dad applied to 4 colleges; he didn't visit any of them- all he knew about the colleges was what he learned in the brochures, pretty much. The college he chose (Colorado College), he ended up loving, and had a great experience.
