College decision time is coming to an end. I have several great options, but I would like some input on the pros and cons of each school. I have been accepted to Emory University, UGA, Rhodes College, University of Tennessee - Knoxville, and Sewanee - The University of the South. At least, those are the ones at the top of my list. Does anyone have any pros or cons on these schools besides the typical information such as small class size, social atmosphere, etc. By the way, I am leaning toward pre-med with a possible major in Mathematics. Any advice would be appreciated. I am most interested in Emory, but I am wondering if it has enough pros to counteract the price tag.

How much more expensive is Emory?
I think Emory is the best option for your needs…

HopesofIvy- Are you a Georgia resident?

I am not a Georgia Resident. If I attend UT - Knoxville, I have about 95% of the cost of attendance covered. If I attend Emory, I only have about 45% Cost of Attendance covered. It amount to about a $30,000 difference per year. I know I love everything about Emory, but with graduate school looming in the distance, I am wondering if it’s worth the extra expense. These are the two schools I’m really torn between.

LAC’s are generally good places to be math majors as well as pre-med. What about Rhodes? It’s a CTCL college. [Rhodes College | Colleges That Change Lives](http://www.ctcl.org/colleges/rhodes)

Isn’t Emory dominated by its nearby neighbor GT in everything to do with math and science?

Why UGA if you are out of state? Do you like people who bark?

No. Georgia Tech is much better than Emory in the highly quantitative STEM fields, excluding chemistry, but Emory is a better school for biology and chemistry. With a few exceptions*, almost any field Georgia Tech is weak in, Emory excels at, and vice versa.

*Exceptions including earth science, agricultural fields, forestry, the arts, and education. Typically high achieving Georgia residents go to UGA if they wish to study one of those fields.

After visiting all of them, my top two are Emory and UT Knoxville. I actually plan on double majoring in math and anthropology. EMory really attracted me with their anthropology program. Emory has everything I was looking for in a school. I loved it! However, UT wasn’t as bad as I thought, and the money difference is making my decision harder. Would you spend an extra 30k to attend a highly-ranked private school that you LOVE over the large public school that you only LIKE?

BUMP, any advice?
