yeah people have told me things about the finaid office at chicago.

redchord and hubui, are you two freshman so that they defer you to see more college grades?

Called the financial aid office and asked about the form. They said something to the effect of "Yeah, we don't have access to that anymore, why don't you fax it to us?" to which my response was "... okay..."

I mean, what do you mean you don't have access to it anymore? What's the point of filling it out on time if I'm going to need to re-file it? Sheesh.

And now I'm going to get rejected. I hope they're happy. >_<

don't worry, they cant find it doesn't mean they reject u
be positive

I know that doesn't necessarily mean anythig. However, I've always been pretty sure they're going to reject me. So doing all this refaxing and remailing and whatnot just means I'm spending a lot of money for them to send me a thin envelope. :P

uh.....my brother hasnt heard anything yet....im guessing he should give them a call?

If he applied by March 1st (early notification), then yes. He should've heard a while ago. If he applied by April 1st (regular notification), however, he's still got a week or three left to wait.

I just called the Admissions office and they said that regular notification transfer applicants should hear "hopefully early next week."

So there ya go.

thanks! ill let him know, we were getting worried.

but i think we people who were deferred will not hear at the same time><

Tapping my fingers. I called the office again to see if I'd get a different answer, and I did, unfortunately: instead of hearing early next week, they should be /sending/ early next week.

And I'm twitching. I desperately need some finality in this so that I can start planning my summer, and next year, and then where I'm going to apply to transfer after that. I can't do it until I have the rejection firmly in hand because until then, there's a 50% chance that they've actually accepted me (not to be confused with my chances of getting in, which are approximately 1/10000).

Because I'm a neurotic dork (see previous post(s)), I called the admissions office again to see what they'd say to the question "When do regular notification transfers hear their decisions?"

Today's answer: "Hopefully by the end of the week."

(Is there even anyone else here who's still waiting? :P)

i'm waiting too, i'm deferred from early notification

Hey everyone... I, too, applied to the University of Chicago as a transfer under the regular notification deadline. I had a heck of time getting everything in order because they kept on telling me they had received all my paperwork, but then they hadn't...etc etc. Now it's taking them forever to get back to us. sigh :( All my plans are pretty much on hold until I hear back from them....

This week is so crazy .... I feel like throwing daggers. haha I'm just...ahh on edge I guess you could say. haha I just need an answer, now.

Hopefully they'll come soon??? I've called them so much in the past two months that they probably recognize my voice now. haha later!

Hey, I was a pest and called them back today and the lady told me that they would be mailed out by the end of the week. Yes.... MAILED... geez. I'm going crazy here. If they mail them at the end of the week...ugh Sunday get's in the way and my university has already refused to get mail on saturdays because of issues with the U.S. postal service. sigh .....do they like torture?!

:(

I guess they must! :(

I'm in the same boat as you, chimello, putting all my plans on hold until I can get the decision. It's incredibly annoying -- I hate how deadlines are optional for everyone but the applicants. ("mid-May"? What does that even mean?) Oh well. Absolutely nothing we can do but wait. Sigh.

I called them again (:D) and this was their answer today:

"They were sent yesterday."

Woo! I think.

You better get used to it if you want to attend UChicago.

haha

Perhaps it's a torture of a different kind. hehe Ah, well, I guess I'll figure that out soon enough. Good luck to everyone who is waiting! :)

(In Russian accent): At UChicago, you do not go down on GPA, GPA goes down on you!

I know, that is awful.
