Decisions... MSEE at Stanford, UCSD, or USC or MSCS at UCLA

Hey everyone,

Well, the season is over for me and I’ve been admitted to all of the above schools, in addition to UCI and UCSB.

I’m trying to make a decision here but there are just too many good choices, so hopefully someone with more knowledge can guide me.

My end goal is to work as a hardware engineer designing processors at one of the major chip designers such as Nvidia or ARM. In that respect, I think Stanford can really help me out being in the heart of Silicon Valley. However, all of the programs I’ve been admitted to are more than good enough to help me achieve that.

All the schools cost roughly about the same. USC, however, has given me a 15k scholarship which cuts tuition by about a third.

I’m really drawn to Stanford because of the prestige and the fact that its an in almost anywhere. From what I understand, research opportunities for Master’s students are more abundant at the UCs though. This would give me a chance to cut tuition costs by working as an RA or TA.

Has anyone graduated from any of these programs? How did they help you achieve your goal?
