Decisions?

goddamn i only got into the college park scholars program

i thought i was accepeted from the old site, but the new site says spring...kinda a bummer

It says at the bottom of the page if you got into any special programs; you can't really miss it. If it says nothing, then sorry, but you didn't get in.

damn..well at least i got in. Anyone know how the business school works for freshman?

Honors is better that college park scholars.

"Crap, Thank you for your application for admission to the University of Maryland. While we cannot offer you admission for the fall semester, we are impressed with all you have accomplished and we are pleased to offer you admission for the Spring 2007 semester which begins in January.

This sucks"

That is fine. Take a semester off. ofcourse i don't know the meaning of that fully but from what I understand you are in man. Cheer up.

**** YEAH!!!! GOT IN!!! scholars!!! **** yeah. I have been calling my friends they all are getting into the school. I am happpy

anyone know what the Academic Achievement Programs are? This isn't deferral right? It doesn't say referral, waitlist, or if i got in or not...

they said no internet until tomorrow but my decision is up already on the 2006 decision site... glitch? i dont know

no people got e-mails to this site. I did not however receive an e-mail but more than half the people i have askeed have gotten e-mails. It links to that page. The e-mail says CONGRADULATIONS so i don't know why i didn't get one??

I am pretty sure we do not get air-conditioned dorms. That's what the housing page says, at least.

your right.

I am going to visit maryland or spend a night with my cousin sometime these next two weeks

someone needs to help conjeniality out..whats the academic achievement program??
(i got you girl :))

Check this out for residence halls
http://www.resnet.umd.edu/hallsatglance/hallsatglance.html

Check this out for Scholars Programs - note they are very specific
http://www.resnet.umd.edu/programs/Living_learning/scholars.html

Check this out for honors and gemstone - not all halls are A/C btw http://www.resnet.umd.edu/programs/Living_learning/honors.html

After frustrating the heck out of myself checking the old link - I headed out to meet up with friends at Towson University - stopped in the local Arby's for a soda and while in the drive thru the blackberry lit up with an e-mail from - YEAH yo know it - Univ of Maryland - awesome - I'm in for Fall - never knew it could feel sooooooo good! Have wanted this since I was 8 years old - my dreeeeeaaaaammmmmmmm school is mine!

I want CIVICUS - but understand I have a separate letter coming with an invitation to the program.

Whether its scholars, honors, or gemstone - each is a living learning program that shrinks the humongous U down to a human size - and enhances the experience - but consider the criteria and the program you have been offered very carefully - because they vary a lot - and hopefully match your interests and talents - but these programs are offered based on how someone subjectively read our essays - make sure its a good match - and if not - look at the others to see if theres a better match for you - and if you can try and switch - or decline and just jump into the big pond on Route 1!

In hopes that the decision would be positive - my Mom scraped up 2 tix for us to go to the Georgia Tech game tomorrow and celebrate - yahoo - I'm gonna be a Terp!

accepted into scholars =)

conjeniality, i read my friends letter which also placed her in the Academic Achievement Program, and it sounded like a defferal, but I'm not quite sure =/

Did a bit more research on AAP:

PURPOSE

The purpose of the Academic Achievement Programs has remained constant through the years---to provide the opportunity of a college education to students who, if evaluated solely on traditional criteria, might now have access to UMCP.

Basically, it seems to me as if, instead of rejecting or deferring a student, they place them in this program to get them to the level necessary to be admitted into the main university. However, to be considered for this, (as opposed to being rejected or deferred) the student must meet the following: Low income status, First generation college student, Disabled, or traditionally under-represented students.

So I hope that helps, also for more in-depth info just read their website: http://www.aap.umd.edu/Overview/index.htm
