Deerfield vs Blair

I don't know much about Blair but feel free to PM me to ask any questions about Deerfield.

The OP has offered very little info. about his son which makes it difficult to make any sort of meaningful, tailored recommendation or comments. Having visited both schools several times, my off-the-cuff impression was that Blair Academy had an intimate country club feel to it, while Deerfield Academy was similiar to Dartmouth College--which, oddly enough, touts its country club image. Based solely on the OP's posted info., the score is one to one as Deerfield's Lacrosse program is stronger, but Blair's location is closer.

Blair Academy is a pristine campus with stellar academic and athletic opportunities, while having a priority to create and maintain an family-like, close-kint community setting. One could not ask for a better setting. It is a privilege to have the chance to attend Blair.

OP -- If your son is a serious basketball player, Blair has a very strong program Blair Academy - Athletics and Blair Academy - News & Events Good luck with your decision!

Your decision sounds like Dartmouth vs Gettysburg, and Gettysburg is a wonderful school but it isn't in the same league.

Blair also has an incredible wrestling program. Don't you agree Burb Parent?

Blair wrestling is the top program in the country. It is a college-prep program with several PGs preparing for D1 college wrestling. It's pretty intense.

Blair has what is often recognized as the best wrestling program in the country, public or private.

Based on the name, the OP probably has a 3-season sport son who plays lax, basketball and soccer. Anyway, the OP never came back to provide any additional feedback, so I don't know if there is any point to this discussion.

Thanks to all of those who weighed in with an opinion. I think both are excellent schools. Blair is most definitely an up and coming school........but Deerfield has the "wow" factor, the New England setting and a science building that would be the envy of any major university in the country. In the end it was the little things.......the student matchup at Blair for the revisit was just not good......at Deerfield the matchup was with 2 lacrosse players. The lax coach at Blair was very lukewarm and not very enthusiastic about my son at all, whereas at Deerfield the coaches were much more engaged. Then again what works for my son might be the wrong place for someone else.
