<p>So, what does that really mean? Do they wait until March to review all of the other applicants? Do they look at first semester grades? Do any of the applicants get rejected this round or does everyone get deferred? Any information would be appreciated. Thank you for an info you can provide.</p>

<p>Deferred means they will look at your app again at a later date, most likely after the first notification period is over, just so they can have a bigger picture of the applicant pool. </p>
<p>Also yes, they more than likely will request first semester grades. </p>
<p>Just an FYI, it is not called deferred (that has a different meaning at UW-Madison) it is called postponed.</p>
