Deferred at WUSTL. need help finding new college

UIUC is a much better engineering school than Wash U, one of the best there is. Congratulations!

Congratulations! I think that’s a very good option for you. UIUC is great for both physics and engineering.

Toss in an application to Michigan.

Thanks guys!
@slipper1234, wouldn’t OOS tuition at Michigan be really expensive compared to in-state at UIUC?

Yes. Try the “net price calculator” at each school’s web site if you want to compare. If Michigan is unaffordable (or just so much more expensive that there is no way you’d choose it over UIUC), then it is not worth applying to.

And yes, UIUC is a fine choice to have for an Illinois resident.

Thanks for the advice! After looking more into USC I have decided that it would be a great fit for me. At the same time I am still hoping I will be accepted by WashU come April. You mentioned that they probably wouldn’t get in to WashU due to their ACT scores. So I am curious what you think about my particular scores… I received a composite score of 29 on the ACTs
English 29
Math 26
Reading 32
Science 28
It is not very high but at teh same time I think I did very well on the SAT (Isubmitted both scores to WashU)
On the SAT I received a 1370 / 2030 for 3 part score
660 Critical Reading
710 Math
660 Reading
I thought it was pretty good… but the question is, is it good enough to be accepted to WashU?

While your SAT scores are indeed quite good, they are still below the 25th percentile at WashU. 25-75 are 2075-2300 - WashU likes high test scores. So, realistically, your odds aren’t very good. However, your scores are plenty high enough for lots of excellent schools. So, as long as you apply to a range of schools, you should have great choices for where to attend.
