If a student defers enrollment for a year, does their financial aid package stay the same when they eventually enroll or is it re-calculated?

Our daughter was offered a terrific financial aid package to one school in particular, but is contemplating taking a gap year to do some other things. Our financial picture should remain the same, though our daughter may get a part-time job during the year she is not in school.

Thanks to anyone who has taken this route and can share their experience.

jnsq,
if by "other things" you mean she might try applying to other colleges [every year students ask on CC about using a gap year to try to get into "better" colleges- I'm not accusing your D of this, but it does come up every year], be careful and read the fine print regarding deferral at the college with the great financial aid package. Some colleges will require accepted students to reapply to their college, if they get wind of a student using a gap year to try to get into another college. Just thought you should know.

Best to check directly with the school.

You will have to reapply for financial aid . Any monies your D makes will be part of the FA equation and will probably change the package
