Can anyone share their stories about deciding whether or not to defer freshman year, and whether or not it turned out to be a good idea?
I've heard anecdotally about how great it is for many students -- they get a chance to work, travel, volunteer, unwind from a rigorus high school experience, etc., and they enter college more confident, focused, mature, etc.
That sounds good -- but any horror stories or regrets out there?

I could see how it would be a good idea if it helps the FAFSA come out more generous b/c a sibling is one year younger.
