Spoiled is just getting whatever the hell you want and being ungrateful. I don't necessarily get anything I want, but if its like clothing or something, my parents usually pay for it (partly because up until senior year, I've never cared about clothes) and I am always very thankful.

And yeah, a lot of people just have rich/successful parents who like to buy stuff for their kids, so the kids can't really be blamed for that.

Spoiled is not a good word, and you wouldn't use it to describe a good person. People who get everything they want or need, but are appreciative are therefore good, so they're not spoiled. When you stop being humble and appreciative is when I would call someone spoiled.

I think "spoiled" is a state you put yourself into. You can't call someone spoiled just because they were born into a family where people work hard and make money. If you appreciate the fact that you have a lot of good things and you understand that you don't have them just because you think you're the most wonderful child ever, that's not spoiled. I don't think you become spoiled until you start taking things for granted and believing that you should have them just because you exist and you're the most wonderful person on earth.

My family's fairly well off, but I'd hate to consider myself spoiled. My dad's really cheap, I don't get whatever I want, and I'm attending a college that's $130K cheaper than where I would have gone otherwise. I bet most of friends think my family's income is average or less.
