Defining an Educational Gap

Hi, how's everyone doing?

I was wondering if an applicant who was a full time student for a year and then became a part-time student for two years would be considered to have an educational gap due to a relatively extended part-time status?

Gap usually implies that you weren't at school altogether. If you went part-time for work or something of that nature, then you shouldn't have a problem.

Is this the case?

For financial reasons, yeah...but even suitable part time work that fits into your schedule is hard to find nowadays

I don't think going part-time is considered an educational gap at all. You're still in school.

In my case, I left CC for 7 years and then came back.

Why do you ask about this if I....may ask?

I was just wondering how it would be defined

Just want to know if an Educational Gap will hurt the applicant chances ??

that is not an educational gap.

If it meant staying in CC significantly longer though you might want to just note somewhere in your personal statement that you worked and went to school and had financial hardships etc... if it only took you an extra year than just dont stress over it because it doesnt matter.

It took me 5 years, i worked full time for 3 of them and part time for the other 2 and had a difficult family situation so I explained why i spend 5 years in CC
