I applied EA to UD and they asked for my mid-years on December 11th. I wasnā€™t able to submit them until I got them on the 17th, and they were 6 Aā€™s and one B+. My GPA was a 3.2, and I didnā€™t take the SAT or ACT, so I had to write supplemental essays. I had 4 LORs for UD (three teachers and one from my boss). Itā€™s been a little over a month and Iā€™m still waiting to here back for them. Hopefully, I hear from them this week. Also, congratulations on your acceptance! Did you commit to UD, or are you still waiting to hear back from somewhere else?

UD seems my most likely destination Iā€™m stuck between UD Michigan state and a local state school. Thanks and best of luck to you as well! Delaware usually releases decisions on Friday so hopefully you hear back soon!!

Good luck to you as well! I hope to hear back from UDel this week, and I hope itā€™s an acceptance.

I hope you hear this Friday Aquarius2 especially since your grades were sent very close to the time my Dā€™s grades were. Yes, it is a bit frustrating to have to wait until ā€œsometimeā€ in April to receive a decision. Good luck and sending positive vibes your way!

Good Luck Aquarius2! Sounds like my son was in the same position as you. He applied to 9 schools but Delaware was his top choice aand Penn state was his 2nd. He got into 7 schools almost immediately, got the 2+2 at Penn state a few weeks ago and finally heard from Delaware tonight. He was waitlisted for Fall but accepted for the spring. Not sure at all what our next move will be but heā€™s got a lot to thinking to do this weekend

Thatā€™s what happened to me too! They offered me spring admission or to enter the waitlist for the fall. Not sure what Iā€™m going to do now either. I am considering both of the options, but Iā€™m also considering IU Bloomington because I got in there for Fall. I need some time to think about it. I just really hate that they waited till now to make a decision.

My heart goes out to you. The late notice on a friday evening over a holiday stinks. Heā€™s going to email his counselor for input but right now I think my son is leaning towards doing the spring admission and maybe just doing some core classes at the local community college. Itā€™s not ideal by any means but he really really wants Delaware and spring is better than none. Not sure what the letter means when they say if they have room for him in the Fall, theyā€™ll let him know. Then who gets in first? Waitlisted or spring accepted students. Not cool. Did you also get the email about the summer edge program? He would do it if it helps

For PSU did your son say he was willing to go in summer? If not and he is willing to do that you might ask to appeal the decision and be considered as a summer admit. I am sorry that they are making both your son and Aquarius2 wait for spring at UD and hope the waitlist for fall comes through. I would have to think that a spring admit with fall waitlist would be at the top of the waitlist.

I didnā€™t consider a summer program and didnā€™t even know there was an option to appeal but my son call the admissions office tomorrow and find out what his options are.

For Penn State there is, not Delaware.

Sorry for such a late response, just reading this now. I hope you had a great Easter and Good Friday (if you celebrate)! The letter confused me too when I first read it. Also, Iā€™m not sure which one is better - waitlist for fall or the spring option. My mom and I are still not sure who would get the spot first if thereā€™s room in the fall. My mom reached out to admissions to ask that question and they said it depends on a multitude of factors (so Iā€™m assuming itā€™s holistic?.). I did not get an email for the summer edge program, so Iā€™m unsure what it includes. I really want to go off to college in the fall. All of my friends are already in or are going to college out of state in the fall, so being home for 6 months (UDā€™s spring semester doesnā€™t start till early February) would be very depressing. Something I noticed this past weekend was that I couldnā€™t sign up for any of the admitted student events, even though Iā€™m admitted for spring. I called admissions about this and the girl in the office told me that she had to ask the senior admissions team to look into the situation and that it should take 3-5 business days to get a response. The only problem with that is that I wanted to sign up for an open house and admitted students tour this weekend, but Iā€™m blocked from doing so. I then sent an email to admissions and they said to try responding to the form on the portal and try signing up for the events again. So would that mean I would have to commit to UD and pay the $500 deposit in order to attend the events? All the colleges I was admitted to donā€™t require my deposit to attend the events or take the admitted students tour. Overall, kinda annoyed with UD right now.

Just wanted to update that my son released his spot to UD tonight. He is going to stay with Penn State. I hope this helps open a spot off the waitlist for the fall for one of you. Good luck!

Quick update: I decided to take the waitlist for the fall term. I really didnā€™t want to wait till spring. Maybe a spot will open up for one of us in the fall, but I obviously chose another college just in case.

Sorry for dropping the ball on this thread. So my son spoke to his counselor 2 weeks ago and she thinks Spring admission isnt necessarily a bad thing. Since then, my son has been calling and emailing his delaware admissions counselor relentlessly to ask a few questions and she hasnā€™t responded. Very frustrating. On the 12th he accepted his admission for the spring semester with the intention of doing some 101 classes locally. Just clicked a link and that was it. Pretty anticlimactic. No deposit necessary. I think heā€™s officially a blue hen. Weā€™re not going dorm shopping anytime soon but fingers are crossed.
Hopefully enough spots open up for all who want to go.

This is the link for the edge program if youā€™re interested:

Good luck to your son! My admissions counselor does the same thing. Itā€™s really frustrating, I agree. I have deposited anywhere yet, but my plan is to commit to Fairfield for the fall and reevaluate if I get admitted into Delaware.
