'Delete' Option ?

Mods, can you establish a function where people can delete threads that they have created themselves? This would really help since the “edit” button only lasts but a few minutes before the thread becomes permanent.

Some message boards let a person who created the ability to lock that thread. That would be cool.

Allowing the OP to delete a thread if he/she didn’t like it anymore would hardly be fair to the other members who invested time in replying to it. Threads are permanent.

Well, Roger Dooley, I was thinking more along the lines that the OP may have made a mistake and they can’t change it since the “edit” button only lasts but 30 seconds.

How about giving people the ability to edit their posts any time they want as long as it’s password-encoded? This could seriously decrease the number of TOS violations.

You can edit for up to 20 minutes, the 30 second rule is for searches.

yeah the no editing after 20 mins rule kinda bothers me, can we at least extend it? i dont think people will completely alter their posts after a person has responded just to be mean …

No, but on forums with long edit windows I’ve seen plenty of instances where a poster had an error caught by a later poster and changed the original post so the later poster appeared to be wrong. The edit window is really designed to fix typos or formatting errors you spot immediately after posting.

well we just have to be careful with what we say…
