So I added twenty schools and have decided to not to apply to many of them....However I have additional schools I would like to add but can't because common app limits the number of schools you can add. My question is, can someone tell me if there is a way to remove a school from the common app "my colleges" list?

Just go your my colleges list and click remove college. THe button works unless you sent in a supp though the common app. If you did that, the Common app will not let you remove it.

Where is this remove college button?

It’s normally in the “My Colleges” list, I can’t see it right now for some reason. I’m sure it was there a few hours ago…

I can’t see it right now either- do you suppose that it will reappear?

Just noticed it too, I was like what the heck…

Oh thank goodness, I thought I was the only person not seeing the delete button. Needless to say, I was slightly getting worried…

Oh my God, I’m freaking out. Is it gone?! Will it come back?! Where did it go! It was there and fully functioning yesterday…

It seems to have disappeared but I emailed the support center. Hopefully I will get a response soon.

so, i just randomly added 20 schools, including all ivy league schools, just to see the supplement section of each school and how it is. I DID NOT write anything on it. All i did was just simply clicking the supplement button to see what colleges are asking for supplements. And then I tired to remove some of those colleges from the list and I can’t freakin find the ‘remove’ button. the colleges I added on the list are the ones that are impossible for me to get in. If I can’t remove some of the colleges from the list, I’m screwd

I’ve e-mailed Common App about it, first my button was working strangely and removed different colleges here and there.

Took me 4 e-mails for them to fix it, now ended up with no button at all.

They said they’re fixing it.

Tewodros,

Thanks for the message, and we apologize for the confusion. The “Remove College” button has been temporarily removed in order to fix and issue that has been occuring. The button should be back in the next couple of days, so please wait to remove any schools from your list until later in the week.

Thank you for your patience.

Regards,
The Support Team

I was beginning to panic because I couldn’t find the Remove button. I’m so glad I found this before I actually freaked out. Thank you! It better be back in a couple of days, though.

It’s back! Feel free to remove your colleges!

what if you sent the supplement, but no longer want to apply?

chemistry30 -

If you’ve submitted something to a college via the Common App Online, you won’t be able to remove them from your My Colleges list. You can just leave it there and ignore it.

Can I remove a college than after that add it again? Does that college know and will it hurt my chance?

I’m pretty sure that colleges do not know when you’ve added or removed them. It’s only when you hit submit that they see what you’ve done.

The button is not there anymore. Can someone tell me how to delete a school? Can you give me step by step instructions?

Under My Colleges, click on the school that you wish to delete. There will be a grey box that says Remove this College directly above the area that lists the status of the application.
