anyone who bought the dell computer within july 18 will be affected, especially the E 1505 models

A person who has His MCSE, MCSA and MCSD while I also have around 12 MCP certs along with a CCNA, A+, server + network+,CCA XP, RHCT and Im only 21 and thats to only mention a few. I also have around 13 years of actual experience, and 6 of them in a actual system administration setting, 4 being an apprentence.

Not to mention Im a Computer engineering student, Im also a Huge contributor to the Freebsd project.

if you can beat that they be my guest, but I know you cant so ****.

Mine was affected. I have a Dell Inspiron 6000 bought last July or August. My battery doesn't say Sony on it.

Hey Vin - wooopeee for you!

My battery is listed on the site but when I typed the number on the battery in, the site said my battery didn't need replacement.

Whew, my battery was made in Malaysia, guess I'm safe.

And I bet very few people will actually take Dell up on the recall - since the problem is very rare - so I doubt it will affect Dell's bottom line very much (or Sony's).

you may say whoopeee, but you should be aware that the certifications auch as MCSE and RHCT are rated as harder as the Majority of Bachelors degree programs, well thats why the majority of the people who have them make around 95K a year.

good lord. some1 loves to brag. all your titles and certification dont mean ****. all i know is my $2000 dell broke after 1 year and all the apples ive had were great. end of story.

vinny, are you jealous of apple cuz you cant afford one? or did you just get some windows spyware up your ass?

We've never had that problem with Dell (breaking down)...and we have four computers from them.

Vinny,

/pat. There there. I'm sorry I ever doubted your greatness.

katho, there's a difference between the dell laptops and the dell desktops. the laptops are what tend to break down.

and honestly, the battery thing doesn't suprise me. dell likes to put the cheapest parts they can find in their laptops and sony probably offered them the cheapest battery they could find.

my e1505 has a non-recall battery, so i'm good for now

and even if my dell breaks down ... its warrentied for 4 years, they get to fix it! not that it has yet

riptide88

or I dont use windows and just use bsd, and I have a 3k IBM thinkpad and a top of the line desktop. Kinda doubt I cant afford it.

Vinny, do you ever get girls?

vinny: why get a laptop if you never leave your room?

chochocho you have more posts than me *******.

um I onlyt sleep in my room, most of my psots our done on the go or at work.

UB -

fyi - I believe some Lenovo (formerly IBM) laptops also use this same defective Sony battery.

I was curious - since you trounced the majority of the major laptop manufacturers, which ones do you endorse instead?

I endorse IBM(Lenovo) Thinkpads, Dell Latitude and Precisio notebooks. Not Inspiron. Asus Makes a Great Laptop. I also find gateway products to be amazing also. especially the support and the build quality Vs the price.

I am not aware of the Thinkpads usuing the same cell as the Dells. Its a possibility, but we havent see any problems with them as of yet.

I personnaly dont hold dell or apple or sont accountable for the battery problem. Dell is making a fine gesture on the recall but it is not at all needed.

Consumers ask for more and more and the engineers do there best, but there is always going to be risks. As with any battery there is always a risk, Ive seen this with my high powered flashlights. such as my Surefire's and such. Ive had Cr123A batteries go on me.

Consumers should do the research before they buy the products.
