Demonstrated interest , campus tour and admissions

Does admissions consider whether an applicant has taken a tour of campus as showing interest in the university. I have been unable to travel to Virginia but did apply EA. I have seen numerous u tube video but I will schedule a tour asap if one is considered for admission.

I believe that demonstrated interest is NOT taken into account. But it may well be worth a visit after you receive your decision if it becomes a school of consideration. It is a beautiful place to visit, as well as being a top school.

Yes, UVa specifically says that “demonstrated interest” does not matter in admissions. Most colleges provide that information in their “common data set,” which you can usually find for each college through a google search.

I suggest working with your parents to save some of their vacation time and scheduling flexibility to attend accepted student days at whatever colleges you are considering after admission. UVa has some days during the winter for early admissions and then several days in April. If you can only visit UVa once, it is much better to attend an admitted student day (called Days on the Lawn) than a generic admissions tour. It will much more in-depth, and you will get a chance to see and hear more info about your intended program. Also, UVa will be offering overnight stays in residence halls for admitted students in the future.

If you google UVA and “demonstrated interest,” you’ll find my blog posts about this topic.
