That’s actually is the first time I see something like this. Dental PPO insurance cut the check to my DD for about 3k for Invisalign. That should have gone to her orthodontist, not her. Dental insurance is paid by her employer. She switched jobs starting next week so my thinking is to lock those funds while she is still employed. What is the best course of action? Cash the check and pay provider the amount of the check? Contact insurance company? Give the check in my DD name to provider? Not sure they can cash it though since it’s in her name.
I’d call the orthodontist and explain the situation. I see no problem with her cashing the check and paying the orthodontist.
This happened once to us. I called the insurance company and they told me because the doctor was out of provider list (or something like that) it goes to the insured. I cashed the check and paid the provider.
Thank you. I left a message for them to call me back.
There’s a language on the check something like don’t send check back
cash the check and pay the provider. Simple.
Agree. I don’t think it’s complicated.
Happened to us once. We got a check for $120 from the insurance co shorty followed by a bill for $120 from the doc. We cashed the check and paid the doc’s bill online. Pocketed the cc cashback.
Agree….cash the check and pay the doc.
Most likely the orthodontist is not in network with the insurance company, thus the check is sent to the employee or insured person. Deposit the check and she writes another on her checking account. Or deposit the check and pay by cc.
Some patients prefer to sign the check over to us, and we will take it that way also.
