Departments

Which departments are strong at brown? are brown majors known for being a certain type of major like bio or history? yale for example wud be history and mit ud be physical sciences. what is brown?

Everyone is going to give you a different answer. In terms of shear numbers, Biology, History, and International Relations are the most popular, as far as I know, but this in know way suggests that other departments are particularly weak.

Our neuroscience program was the first one developed for undergraduates and it's curriculum serves as the model for nearly all other undergraduate neuroscience tracts. Our Computer Science department is one of the oldest in the country and is fantastic as well.

Brown also has one of the strongest undergrad classics programs. I've also heard applied math.

brown has the only egyptology dept. in the nation and i think the only history of math dept. in the world

^Yup, that's correct.
