DePaul acting prescreen

@katgirlchicago - the programs you are talking about pertain to NEED. Chicago Public High School graduates who, via FAFSA, have an EFC of $0.00 per year, excellent SAT/ACT and high gpa, and who are admitted to these schools will go tuition free. Very smart & very hardworking economically disadvantaged kids benefit – which is great!

I realize need-base… there is however a new program for Chicago High School Graduates and a tuition free program that will be implemented next year… What is your calculation of “Very Smart” will benefit ? I know several students who were not at the top of their classes and had a 3.1 gpa both with full rides to DePaul …I’m sure they have some Amazing Scholarships for very high GPA/ High ACT/Sat scoring students however if you fit with what they are looking for, they find a way to get you into their schools

keep kids in urban public schools opposed to what? some of our “urban schools” are Top in the nation… Many are doing well. Chicago has millions of people. Trevor was here twice and perhaps he didn’t provide full facts in regards to the students here however there isn’t 1/3 attending private school. I will look for some more concrete #'s but you can’t just go off of what you see/ hear on TV… you should make a visit some time.

@katgirlchicago - you seem to have super strong feelings about this- I don’t know if this thread is the best place for the conversation, it has nothing to do with the OP. If you want to talk about his program, maybe start a thread. Btw - I was the one who mentioned. Trevor Noah… a month ago. I also lived in the Chicago area for 4 years - I know it pretty well.

I saw you had mentioned that you lived here for 4 years. Many things change over the years. I’ve lived here for 2 decades now so I think I can chime in a little bit about my home city.I can attest that 1/3 of the children are not going to Private School. There are some children who have been in Private schools since Pre-K but 1/3 in private is an exaggeration.
This is the second time that you have told me where my place should be and where I can make comments. My perception is that you don’t feel comfortable when someone with a different opinion speaks in a way that you don’t see fit.
I apologize in advance if you are uncomfortable.
Perhaps you can inbox me and tell me what I am allowed to say and where I can say and when iso that you will feel more comfortable. Once again, for the rest of the anxious parents, I’m really hoping their children get into the school of their dreams. I am sure your children are doing amazing things in school right now

Oh good grief. I give up
