Dependency Status Override? HELP

I have lived with my parents up to the point of March 11 2014. Before There was extreme emotional and psychological abuse from my Mother due to me coming out of the closet to her. Since then there has been police reports and my guidance counselor knows everything. Likewise one of my teacher knows about the issue. By March 11 I ran away because I was unable to deal with it. CPS likewise was called when I was in the homeless shelter. Since then my parents refuse to support me in anyway, causing me to be homeless. Due to my unstable living situation i have become a migratory student living in various shelters ranging from friends and family to the streets. I got declared an unaccompanied homeless youth for the 2014 - 2015 school year but because I didn't know if I was even going to graduate I was unable to apply to any colleges in the Fall semester and the spring Semester offers little financial aid. Do you think this will sufficient enough to get a dependency override?
Documentations I can provide
- Statement from Guidance Counselor
- Statement from my Teacher
- Statements from various friends in school who she has threatened to kill
- Statement from Co workers that she almost killed
- Documentation from my Homeless Liaison
- Documentation from my a Homeless shelter
- Police Reports
- CPS reports
- Statement from the case manager I had in one of my homeless shelters
- Possibly even a statement from my father who continually lives with her

I would guess that you would be able to get the override. But talking to the college FA office would give you a firm answer instead of just a guess.

Dependency overrides are a professional judgement issue that can vary from case to case, certainly from college to college. You don’t just get a one size fits all override in many cases. So start talking to the financial aid officer of the school you have in mind. Are you looking at schools that require PROFILE as well, or FAFSA only schools.

Your father is cooperating in getting you a dependency override, but not providing any monetary or other support to you?

Definitely try for dependency status override, you have a good case.

@cptofthehouse my father will cooperate when it comes to something like this because he really wants me to go to college. He feels though he can not divorce my mom so in order to save himself from hell with her he keeps his hands off including monetary or really any support. I feel like if pull him to side and request something like this he probably would do it.
I will try guys! Hopefully I will get it!

You do not require an override. You qualify for independent status on the basis of your homeless status.

Some schools have special programs to support homeless youth. You may want to check the info on this link: http://www.naehcy.org/sites/default/files/dl/homeless-ed-101.pdf</a>. I wish you the very best.
