My safety so far is University of Texas. I haven't looked at University of Chicago for regional preferences. Although their Business program is great so I might change my mind.

Good lucking getting into a top 5 graduate school of business with a highschool diploma. Maybe you can e-mail Harvard and tell them how much you want to go there, and how much excellence you'd bring to their non-existent undergraduate business administration program?

FYI, "University" in front of name followed by location does not = state school. If you're getting rejected from the Ivies then you can expect rejection from Chicago too.

With the exception of certain programs in Cornell and Wharton, I don't think one ivy league school would be in the top ten most 'rigorous' general undergraduate experiences in the country. Ivy != "highly intellectual" community. Ivy = opportunity, resources.

You seem to be a better match for LACs than for the Ivies. You should really look into them.

Hey, hyphenating is often subjective.

It is dangerous to think you "deserve" anything. Colleges take into account your economic standing and your ability to attend "expensive" summer programs etc. Plus you can write about your situation in an essay if you do not think they will get the picture. I understand that you are nervous, but saying that you are "brilliant" is a bit...off-putting. Your entitled attitude is probably going to be your downfall if you are denied.

Back to the OP. Basically your attitude is: I have overcome obstactles, worked hard, and earned good grades and therefore I should get to go to an Ivy League school. You are viewing your high school education and the effort you put in as a means to an end instead of as ends in of themselves. Lets assume that you are brilliant. You are brilliant. Why do you need the Ivy League? studies show that people who have been accepted into an Ivy League school, but not attended, have been just as successful as those who actually went. In other words, people who are qualified for the Ivy League (as you seem to believe you are. You are brilliant.), no matter whether they go or not, are successful in life. So, what you should realize is that the fact that you are even in a position to apply to an Ivy League schools is amazing. You are apparantly well educated (and brilliant), and know how to face adversity. You should be proud of those accomplishments on their own. Why do you need the Ivy League to validate your brilliance? You seem pretty confident in it already.... If you are who you say you are, you will be just as successful whether or not you go to an Ivy League school as soon as you realize to appreciate your accomplishments for what they are instead of using them as a means to an end, or you will never be content.

Edited for fear of corrupting OP.

I sympathize, honest.

I truly hope you get into your desired colleges.

Apparently so is the OP, but you don't seem to be commiserating in the slightest, yes?

Right now, your comments are bordering on pure asinine, grounds to be banned. If you continue it, you probably will. Let's try to maintain at least a vague sense of courtesy, as outlined in the terms of service, shall we?

(By the way, I'm well aware of the etymology of "reinforce" -- you could at least admit you misspelled the word.)

MetdethGNR: I just went back and read some of your old posts...you are really irritating and insecure, you do not need to validate yourself on an internet forum, calm down. Why didn't you apply ED to Wharton?! I would love to find out where you end up though. I am impressed by your resiliance, but, come on...just, go back and read the stuff you write.

I did not misspell reenforce. There are several variations, and your inability to accept is an insult to the English language.

I kid.

Technically you're supposed to go with common usage, which is reinforce.

to the OP:

I didn't do MUN before bcuz I was rejected 4 times. If teachers aren't going to cooperate, then **** em

I also feel your pain OP, I'm a junior too, but I feel that this year all my actions are meaningless because I have one red flag in my applciation which will likely bring a 50%+ rejection rate in the colleges I apply to; Unweighted Class Rank in a school where no one takes APs (except for 2% of the class or so), and as such, I have a strong chance of being near the bottom of the top 10% of my class, or even falling entirely out of the top 10% into the 2nd Decile! Other than that, I have stellar grades (A+'s, except a A- in Physics) and godly EC's.

But the fact of class rank sortof is like throwing oil into a glass of milk.

prestige whore.....

Nobody spells it "re-enforce," we all know it's supposed to be "reinforce." That's like spelling "to-day" when everybody says "today." It's so annoying when people are too stubborn and proud to admit they made a mistake.

I second abanks. The Ivy League does not equal a ticket to be brilliant or successful. It's just a prestige thing, and you need to get that out of your head. But I will say this - you are still a junior and you have time. Use it wisely!
