I hope you've applied to UF; the deadline already passed. If you haven't already, start with the bright futures application. It's available on their website already.

The best part is that it only took me five minutes and now I get a full ride to any of the state universities. (With your stats, you will too, assuming you have enough community service. If you're a National Hispanic Scholar or National Merit Scholar, you automatically get it and don't have to meet the other requirements.)

You should still definitely keep your applications and await a decision. Who knows? They may see something special in you. If you do get accepted to an Ivy, hopefully they give you a phenomenal aid package.

hey you can always goto some other colleges, than do well there and do well on gre and get into an ivy grad school.

this is the best thread in the world.

i just felt like bumping this =D

"I know there is so many people out there..."

hahahhahhaaha

did you know that the IVY LEAGUE IS A SPORTS LEAGUE??? yes, that's right. the ivy league, or IV (as in the roman numeral) is the fourth division sports league. do you even play a sport? and if so, why would you aspire to be in the fourth division? perhaps you would like to go to an academically challenging school...and there are more than seven academically challenging schools. get over yourself. keep complaining about how you won get into an ivy while there are children dying of starvation in africa who never have the opportunity to go to school.

jec7843: I appreciate you truly stating your opinion and the TRUTH replying to this particular post.
metdethGNR: The TRUTH is, many many people are in the same boat as you are. The dream is to go to an ivy league school, coming from a small town, and a small high school, with parents who work hard and dont make a lot of money, taking the hardest classes you possibly can, overwhelming yourself with so many extracirriculars, hoping, praying, that someday you will make something of yourself and go to that "school of your dreams." HOWEVER...no one deserves to get into that school. Sure we all work hard, and have a lot to show for our efforts, we all have tough backgrounds, and have worked hard our entire schooling careers to make sure we have the best credentials for getting into that school. However, you take it to the extreme and declare yourself as an automatic choice. I'm brillant, and deserving, and blah blah blah.
My advice to you is to revaluate your motivations. Do you want to get into that ivy league school because it is "IVY league" or is it the best school for your future. There are many fantastic schools out there that don't have the IVY lable attached to them..Get your priorities straight and seriously consider all the possibilies. Don't give up on your dream, but stop assuming that you are the only one in that situation, and think that your story makes you deserving of getting accepted to that type of school. If you continue to work hard, and achieve success, you will be happy no matter what college you go to.

well, sooner or later, china and india for the win.. bask in the few years of glory the american universities have... it doesnt hurt to apply OP and we understand where you are coming from... and by the way if you want to talk about "hardworking parents"... and generalize that everyone is rich please reconsider... my father came to america with 20 $ american and a suitcase filled with clothes... he had to struggle finding a job here because self-centered US thinks foreign universities such as the university of new dheli which is currently the leading university in aerospace/financial/economical development of india( why u think india is so prosperous) arent up to par with the credentials earned abroad thinking education in foreign places is weak... yah so my dad wasted his youth getting a Masters in Economics at 18 years old and Masters in Communication just to be told "We require a US education to function in this job environment... u are not quite up to the level".... wanna talk about hard work now you know... dont generalize people... no everyone is rich.. im happy with my dads income bracket of 55k a year... supporting a family of 5... so please remember some people are out there that are similar in ur position if not worse.... and by the way, if u are passionate about something pursue it... dont necessarily do ECs/Volunteering for the benefit of lookin good on a resume.... do it for the inspiration in others lives and setting an example to the future youths who will be pursuing after you... volunteering is meant for fun and developing urself within a great environment with other like minded people... dont do it for the sake of benefitting urself please... that is pathetic... And i agree HSisoverrated is quite a pathetic person for just bashing online... how low can you go? well he just proved that by insulting someone online... wow pathetic...

Well, if you can't spell basic words and your writing is always so stilted, I don't think you have a shot. If you're as brilliant as you say you are, just join the Gator Nation and be happy.

Yes, this is mean, but I don't really care. We ALL worked our butts off, and just because we didn't grow up in a barrio doesn't mean that you're more entitled to a great school than the rest of us.

Sorry, but your post… yeah. I have to agree with the criticism.
I can rant on and on and on how I’m a relatively affluent white girl not far from the most affluent parts of southern California. I am a band geek that plays three instruments and studies German. But nothing that sets me appart. My life is horrible blah blah blah blah. Doesn’t matter what I do or am, I don’t deserve anything. No one does. Not even you. And I’m sorry, but it is being a little of yourself to say how smart you are. I don’t like people that pity themselves or thier situations. People like that annoy me, sorry…
If you do get into any school, it will be because you earned it, not deserved it. I hope the best for you, but please don’t go on insulting people that go to the local community college. Those are still legit as anything.
