Desktop AND laptop?

Does anybody use this combination to get the powerful desktop and the light and portable laptop? I was also wondering about Syncback or some similar software. Or, is there a laptop that comes close without being huge and heavy?

I was thinking about the laptop/desktop thing.

What did you decide to do, KrazyKow? It seems that both systems have their merits and drawbacks. I guess you could go with just a laptop or with both...don't think just a desktop is a good idea, though.

(BTW, are you related to ottothecow? JK!)

nah, we're seperate but it looks like we are both in the 2 computer (laptop/desktop) camp...

I love syncback...it works over so many different platforms and protocols that you shoudl be able to make it work on any network and you can set up a sync-profile and drag it to your desktop or something. It makes a shortcut and all you have to do is double click it and it will sync your files in the background. It is by far the fastest syncing program I have found.

I think that I'm going to take both, as long as a find a decent way to ship my desktop from Texas to Pennsylvania. Syncback does look really great- thanks for the tip, cow-bretheren. What I don't quite support is people with more than 2 computers... I'm a geek, but not THAT much of one. :)

I wish I could take both mine...having my laptop would be great for basic things, like internet, office, etc. on the go. My desktop would be for games and TV (i've got a TV card in it).

But sadly, my parents won't let me take the desktop. They claim they need it, even though all they ever do is the internet.

I'm just bringing my laptop, but I'm going to connect it to the monitor, keyboard and mouse of my desktop...not exactly the same thing but I'm going to have a 17" LCD in my room and a 4-pound laptop to take to classes :D
