With all of this back and forth what are the facts? Do United States applicants who are accepted get a UPS package with acceptance and the waitlisted and rejected just get a letter? OR do just the international applicants get the UPS package and US applicants who are accepted get their package by mail. I would appreciate clearification from someone who absolutely knows the correct answer.

Yeah, me too!

I just got an email from Amherst's Diversity Recruitment Program telling me that I'm accepted and offering me a plane ride to Open House. Though my first choice college already accepted me, this is still pretty cool. However, the email made me realize that even though I'm an asian male, my significantly disadvantaged background helped create my currently extremely successful string of college acceptances. It kinda takes meaning away from the whole thing.

Then again, I guess no matter what, college admission is based on a very subjective, arbitrary combination between what you are and what you did.

Oh well, best of luck to you all!

ONLY internationals who have been admitted receive UPS packages since the regular mail might take weeks. While US citizens receive their decisions in their mailbox (meaning the wooden thing on the alley in front of your house) since it's only a matter of days for one letter to get from point A to point B.

Enable, you are told by WHOM exactly that only admitted candidates get packages from UPS. I still think this is bogus...you guys shouldn't give up just because of a sucky email...personally I'm not getting my hopes up, and you guys ( internationals ) shouldnt get your hopes down either

ok so the emails are for diversity admits and the UPS is for the internationals and the ulcers are for the rest of us. Congrats to all of you who have been accepted however you were notified.

Yes, the time for Early Writes is long over.

Congratulations to all who were accepted, and to those that weren't, realize that all that this means is that you would have been just as successful as the admits, but that this year, they needed to fill some slot, and no matter what, you will wind up where you should be, and will be happy. Good luck to all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I also got a UPS notification, does that mean I'm in?

umm. are you sure if you didn't get the UPS email and your'e interational you didn't get in? because we only have 2 poeple on this thread that can prove that..

yeah...i am praying that they havent sent all the ups emails...hoping that mine will come pretty soon.!!

what if you are an international living in the US....

I just got rejected by Vassar, I hope Amherst accepts me. AARGH!

Hahaha i got the e-mail from UPS like 4,5 days but never bothered to open it, coz i had received a very similar ad just a few days ago lol.. yesterday this friend of mine (who also got into Amherst) told me that her package had reached Dubai and i was like WHAT PACKAGE?? Haha then i found the e-mail... So the package reached Lahore, Pakistan some 10 hours earlier, hope it gets here today lol...
