Because I still haven’t! I don’t understand… I’ve received e-mails from Amherst before, so I know they have the right address. At first I thought maybe just minorities/int’ls heard from e-mail, then just acceptances–then some of you said you got rejected/waitlisted by e-mail. I called the office and all they told me was they notify by mail and I’ll find out sometime next week. I don’t get it… what’s going on here?

Only Intl's get email.

...that can't be true. I have a friend who goes to school with me who got in by e-mail last night.

internationals who got admitted are sent an express mail by UPS but they are also emailed their decisions since it takes a while for the postal package to arrive. Similarly international rejections are also informed through email. I think those residing in US though get their admissions/rejections through post.

Some people have been getting e-mail acceptances because Amherst wants to pay to fly them to the Accepted Students thingy as part of a diversity program. If you haven't gotten one yet, it doesn't mean you are out.

To summarise; if you're an international you definitely get the email. If you're a US citizen you won't get an email unless you get into that diversity program.
