Did anyone get his/her new finaid package after appeal yet?

I did. It didn’t change a penny. Because we made over $10,000 retirement contribution, we have to pay a lot more. Our number is more than twice as the FAFSA EFC number. Comparing to other top university, Caltech is the worst in terms of financial aid.

^ my condolence. Well you have better options than I. Columbia is a great option, and with great aid, I don’t see a reason why not. My finaid is adjusted near the FAFSA EFC level, so I’m okay. Idk how my package will change in next year… cuz my family will make more than 10k+ due to promotion. If it stays with the predicted EFC, its okay, but i’m quite concern since for ur case, the amount u have to pay didn’t match that of FAFSA EFC. Idk how I’ll manage if the aid is less than that projected for FAFSA EFC.

I got it today. Mine doesn’t match FAFSA either, but I figure it’s because of home equity. Regardless, insufficient financial aid (went from $0 to $6000 finaid) isn’t helping convince my parents that going to Caltech would be the best decision. The other options I have are Berkeley and Cornell, and both cost around the same for me, but I still want to go to Caltech… sigh.

EFC dropped from 50,000 to 8,000 (unemployment). I’m pretty happy about it and will probably be able to attend because of it!
