I simply want to be the 400th reply post in this thread! YESSSSSSSSSSS!

i really really doubt it means anything but the stats from people who didn't have links/button are higher. but then again, that's not purely what brown looks for. but ive come to the conclusion that links mean nothing. and not having links means even less. like someone said before. i wanna say 'just wait a couple more days! we've waited THIS long! and it seems like we can't even wait 4 more days...' but i think this just shows how much we all want brown so bad!!!! hahah.

^^i think the real pattern is those who applied for financial aid have links and those who didn't don't

but it doesn't matter, just 3 more days :)

got a question, what exactly is a button. and does anyone have it??

the email was my idea since i didn't get it and don't have the links...I wondered if there was just some list I got left off of.

ah I think Brown learned from the ED experience that the button scares people...so they probably wont put it up till Thurs, 5PM

You guys are crazy. Stop worrying, it will all work out. You don't have to go to an ivy league school to be a success; you can always go to a community college.

Yeah Right!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@vincygirl I agree, we definitely are crazy! But I think we aren't that worried about success, what most of us are really worried about is whether we'll be able to pursue our dreams or not. We all worked very hard to get this far, so there are some good reasons for going insane.

Vincygirl--Do not dis on Community Colleges, I attended one for my junior-senior year. They really aren't that bad, and they give you a chance to get to places you wouldnt have otherwise.

So, I basically applied here on a whim, my sats are about..oh let's just say, umm..Pretty much perfect um if you multiply by two, plus add or subtract a couple of numbers, here and there. My grades my sophomore year of high school, are only letters you want your bra size to be. And, I didn't even make a honor society not even once. I didn't play sports, (unless you count spending hours a day on collegeconfidental and facebook as a sport) and wasn't in a club, or a leader of a club, or an owner of a club, or even a dancer at a club.

And I have all the links lit up, basically they mean nothing. Because if I got into to Brown, I am sure that the appolyspe is coming, that hell will soon freeze over, that superman is going to come flying down through the sky, and that Albert einstein will awake from the dead.

Sorry to burst your bubbles. :-(

Vincygirl--You are absolutely right, especially regarding community colleges. Years ago, I was immature and not very academically motivated. I went to a community college for a year before transfering to a university, and since then I've become a pretty successful writer--two books, freelance articles, etc. For me, the community college was just a step along the path to maturity.

I want to go to brown so bad! How do you tell when you got your hopes up? Because I do for some reason, even with my grades, and I await the devestating suprise. anybody else feel this way?

lol, tushar...i'm like that. i don't want to depress myself by thinking that i won't get in! i'd rather feel secure until they drop the bomb!

lol! i am so obsessed with Brown, that I have been in contact with Brown Conselor who is looking at my application since January! In hope that it will make my name stick when he looks at my application. hopefully this obsession helps me.

at least you've shown interest! that can only help. i'm hoping that the counselor i talked to remembers me...i was discussing life in rural west virginia with him when he asked me what kids to for fun around here. i told him that they hunt. when asked if i hunt, i had to say, "no...i'm a vegetarian." it amused him. that, and i've been in contact with a female comp sci major that the ad counselor set me up with.

Hey y'all! Okay, so, another theory if y'all are ready for it. I was deferred ED, and I definitely did not have links at that time or a financial aid link, even though I am applying for finaid. This COULD prove the theory that links mean something. If any of y'all applied ED and remember if you had links at that time on the status page, tell us. Maybe, that could help us solve what this means for RD decisions.

Format:

FOR EDers:

links: yes or no prior to admissions decisions in Dec.
ED decision: deferral, acceptance... no one would be on Brown CC if they were rejected. that kinda skews our results...

tushar...it's a good thing you wrote about that now our I would have totally copied you

look closer...Shobhit and I were deferred ED and neither of us have the links

i was deferred ED, I have the links, I applied for Financial Aid.

hmm yeah no FA for me and no links .. weird

When I called the lady said she had no clue this was happening, but it was most likely a technical glitch since they are fixing the admissions computer system (she said the email in their office was going haywire as well)
