DHS probably needs Spanish speakers at the Southern border.
There are lots of bilingual Spanish speakers, so if you can grow from heritage speaker to high-level bilingual, it’d definitely help. But the biggest need at the border is actually in Creole, Qechua, Aymara, Kawki, etc. because while most Americans at the Southern border have some knowledge of Spanish (many things have bilingual signage for instance) and lots speak is fluently, many people going through the border lately aren’t Spanish speakers, they’re often non Hispanic/Native American descendents primarily speaking Indigenous or regional languages.
Critical languages include Russian, Korean, Chinese, Turkish, Arabic, Akan/Twi, Wolof, Zulu… and deal with areas of the world that represent geopolitical issues or are geopolitically important to the US.
