Did everyone get into where they wanted?

I never actualy thought i was going to get into a BS for this year, i was actualy considering applying to a private day in my area

Got into Hotchkiss (<<---- FIRST CHOICE!!!  :)), Deerfield, Exeter, Groton, Middlesex. :)

Waitlisted at Andover and Taft. (I think the main reason I was waitlisted at Taft was because I swim and they used the money they were supposed to use to build a swimming pool to build a SECOND hockey rink. I kind of blew a gasket after finding that out, and ranted to my interviewer about Taft’s inefficient use of funds… Not the smartest idea when you’re a candidate for admission, but Taft was my last choice anyway. ;))

Rejected at SPS. :(

I’m going to Hotchkiss in the fall. Can’t wait!!! :)

I got into my first choice school -----> Exeter
I also got into Andover and Choate and was waitlisted at Hotchkiss, Deerfield, SPS
I didn’t get rejected at all.

Honestly, it sounds so funny when people say it is a crapshoot to get into these schools because when you make it in you cant imagine anyone else NOT making it it, which is stupid I know. I <3 Exeter!

Cutie, You are one of the few who got into both PEA and PA. Were you asked in either of the interviews whether you applied to the other? Did you file any common apps to these two schools or individual? Why did you choose PEA over PA?

Yeah all the schools I applied to asked which other schools I was applying to, and I was honest to each and every one of them. I actually didn’t know about the common application so I had to do each individually. I chose PEA or PA because I felt more warmth at PEA. Most people thing Exeter is more snobby but I actually found it to be the complete opposite. I also had a couple of things that were important to me such as size of the student body, SAT scores, and EC’s. Exeter just appealed to me more.

Thanks and Good luck to you at PEA. Looks like a good number of CC folks are going there this year.

cutiedida, like you, our son’s final decision was between Andover and Exeter. You were both extremely fortunate because that’s very much a decision with no bad choices. Like you, he chose Exeter. He felt much the same way you did about Exeter, finding that the kids were warmer as well as being more mutually respectful. He also discovered on re-visit day that he liked the Harkness class style even more than he’d thought he would. Much to my surprise, he decided that he likes the dress code too and felt that it was probably an important contributing factor to the warm civility he found at Exeter - and this was from a boy who’s almost never worn a collared shirt to school throughout his 4 years in Middle School here!

I agree about Harkness. Some kids say it is “just a table” but it is so much more. The math classes also were a big factor for me. The fact that they do all their math problems as word problems is really cool. Honestly, having a uniform at school for all of my private middle school days a dress code is like nothing

Well, I was waitlisted at St. Paul’s, my top choice. I got into Exeter though, which was my second choice and also into Deerfield, which was my third! Waitlisted at Hotchkiss which was my fourth and rejected from Andover which was my last choice. I didn’t like that place too much. It seemed so big and cold.
