Did I get a full ride on scholarships?

Hi! I was accepted by my school of choice Bradley University. The school awarded me with a Deans scholarship and an out of state scholarship. Both of these together account to $56,000 for 4 years. I know the tuition there is roughly $44,000. The school however did not specifically say that I have a full ride so I am a little confused. Sorry for the stupid question!

Tuition & Fees
Undergraduate Tuition*
Full Time Charges 2018-2019
Tuition (12-16 credit hours per semester) $33,360
Room & Board $10,620
Activity & Health Fee $400
TOTAL $44,380
These expenses comprise the direct costs of attending Bradley University. Some courses may require additional course fees. Credit hours in excess of 16 per semester result in additional charges of $800/hr. The amount you will spend on books and supplies, transportation, and personal expenses, will average an additional $3440.

COA ~ $44,380+$3,440= $47,820

If scholarship is $56K PER year, you are getting ~$8K above your COA (more than a full ride)!

$56,000 for four years would be $14,000 per year. So you would have $30,000 a year left to pay.

Did you get a financial aid award that breaks down the charges and aid?

Did you apply to a local public college that you can afford?

What can your parents pay a year for college?

I agree with @mommdc, it sounds like a 4 year scholarship of $56,000, which translate to 14,000 a tear

I hate school that do this, leading the family to thinking that they have this big scholarship when it is really a token amount to an unaffordable school.

@TheRedRabbit: You need to state your scholarship offer in a more precise manner. As is, it is unclear as to whether you were awarded $56,000 a year or $14,000 a year.

From looking online, it appears that the dean’s scholarship is $9k/year and the other grant is $5k/year. I think it’s a common mistake for people new to the process to make, especially since that info. isn’t readily available on their website.

Where else have you been accepted? Do you have any affordable options?
