Did I mess up my med school chances?

Oh Cuz I do have to take Evolutionary Biology at Cornell and I feel that is kind of a repeat of Bio II. Also, does getting a higher grade in the advance bio courses make up for my low grade for bio II?

If Bio II is your only pre-req B, they are not going to really care. Once again though, a single B isn’t that bad that it really needs to be “made up”. Get as many A’s in upper level courses as you can, it will be viewed favorably regardless of making up for a freshman year B.

Thanks,

So I read that taking evolutionary biology isnt a good idea, but as a biological science major, i am require to take it, what should i do?

It’s not a BAD idea. It just isn’t useful for premeds. If it’s useful to you for some other reason (e.g. a bio major), then take it.

dragonneedspank: Just take it if it is required. Do not be like my child who takes it so late in his college career. He did not complain about it when he finally took it. At least it could help your reading significantly, as the professor tends to assign a lot of books for this kind of class. (5 books in my child’s case. It appears that the students do not have to read all of them though; maybe only 3 of them are really the required ones. Depending on the professor, it could be writing intensive - e.g., students may be required to write a term paper at the end of the semester in addition to the usual tests.)

However, I think it is possible that my child might complain about it if he took it in freshmen year. A few years of maturity can do the magic.
