I'm sorry if it's not appropriate to make my own thread for this, but I wasn't sure where else to put it.

I think I may have just failed General Chemistry II at my local university. The exam was today and counted 65% of the final grade. I've done well on labs, homework, and quizzes, but I think I bombed the exam today.
I do have a reason, though. My grandmother had a stroke very recently and has been living in a nursing home of the past week; last night, she got very sick and had to go to the emergency room. I wasn't able to prepare for the exam very well for the past little while or at all last night because my family and I've been so busy trying to take care of her.
Until this class, I had a flawless GPA, and I finished my high school level courses as a sophomore. I was taking 17 university credits this semester and am confident I at least got a B+ in every other class.
I'm just terrified this potentially failing grade is going to ruin my chances of going to a great college. I was ranked number one in the class, but now I'll even lose my class rank.

Have I killed my chances? Any opinions would be greatly appreciated!
