did I screw up?

hello all!

I am currently a high school SOPHOMORE. I was wondering where I could improve so I have a standing chance of getting into UC Berkeley or UC Davis. The end of the first semester of sophomore year is near and my GPA is a 3.86. That gpa has lowered my self esteem. =/
Here is what I am taking this year.

-----Courses-----------------------------
Algebra II/Trig
English II- Pre-Honors
Spanish II
Orchestra (I’ve been doing it since 5th grade)

World History AP

------Stats-------------------------------
GPA: 3.86. (grr)

SAT: Haven’t taken it yet

Class Rank: As of freshman year: 54/594. (OUCH!)

I am also doing the Princeton Review over the summer to get a great SAT score to compensate for my HORRIBLE GPA. Where did I mess up? What can I do to improve?

If you reply to this; ill chance you.

Thanks!

Calm down!!! That's an excellent GPA that will only go up over time...probably to a 3.9 or 3.95 if you keep up your hyper-competitive attitude. Don't be so self-deprecating; you have great shots at both UCs you mentioned assuming you're in-state. My friend got into UC Davis with decent SATs (2050-2100 range) and a 3.5 W; unless you're OOS, you're probably overestimating the competition there. Both are great UCs and your chances for admission at both will only increase over time. Take a deep breath and enjoy high school! Most high school students would kill for a 3.86, and you're only a first semester sophomore!
