Did you avoid the freshman 15?

From all the posts it seems like losing weight is more common than gaining.

just dont keep fruit in your room (fruit flies)

I gained 2 pounds. I had to force feed myself because of the freaking meal plan (and I refuse to buy junk food or expensive crap).

I got up to 185 lbs in about 2 months

20 pounds in 2 months is pretty impressive. It took me about 3 months to go back to 165 from 152(5' 9") after losing it from spending summer in another country; hopefully I won't lose any this year at college

did you forget that this thread is on CC? You know, the place where the average user is often much more intelligent than average. I'm going to what Men's Fitness called the 5th most fit school in the nation so I know I'm probably going to get even more chiseled. This summer I've worked out 5 days a week plus my job (package handler) is 4 hours+ of loading trucks at Fedex. I've realized how much it takes to lose any fat once you gain it so I cringe when I think about gaining 15 pounds.

I maintained my weight freshman year, but gained 8 pounds sophomore year....It's actually weird, because sophomore year I worked out all the time and drank a lot less...

Although a lot of people on this board seem to have lost weight, most of the people at college I know seem to maintain or gain weight. Don't freak out about it, just try to eat healthy (it's hard), stay active, go easy on the beer, and skip out on the 3am pizza/burritos/chinese food (I think that's where most of the weight comes from).

yeah all the threads on asian guys scream intelligence.

lol, touche

i lost 7 pounds.

If I'd eaten healthier, I probably would have lost weight. I ended up pretty much staying the same throughout the year, while eating pizza and hamburgers each day. The healthiest thing I ate on a regular basis was the carrots and glass of milk I always got with my hamburger. I'm a picky eater, so most of the other meals offered didn't appeal to me; my friends always made a big deal out of it when I got something different. I never went to the gym to exercise, but walking around my campus with all its stairs can be a pretty good workout.

Girls 10char.

I gained 7 lbs since senior year and I'm a junior now. I went up 4 pant sizes in the juniors section but people say I look skinnier. But I do go to a military school and have to work out.

i've been the same weight and had the same jeans/shirt whatever size ever since 9th grade lol....and im a junior right now

I maintained my same weight by fast metabolism!

Freshman 14 here<

couldn't be more happy, unless I gained more. Working out is actually fun...

I feel like it wont be much of a strain working out cuz everyone is doing it too having the same goals. I'm trying to lose some weight myself. Last summer I was 305, but mind you I'm 6'3" and I played football. Since then I lost 30 pounds and I'm at 270 trying to lose somemore. And I don't plan on having the Freshman 15.

I actually lost a good 15 lbs my freshman year. For some reason, I eat a lot less at college than at home. The best piece of advice I have is to pick up (or continue with) a sport. Exercising is always easier when you're doing a sport, as opposed to just running on the treadmill or whatever.

i lost some weight, went down a waist size for pants. and i wasnt that fat to begin with!..maybe some lovehandle on the side..but it wasnt like i was FAT. i exercise 3 times a week. my routine is cardio with running 2 miles and then go to gym right after for strength training. sometimes after a long day of work you just dont wanna sit down and start studying, so instead i just go exercise. it clears your mind and its healthy. now i kinda have a six-pack! YESSS..sexy

anyway sticking to routine is VERY important. set aside a consistent time block (say, MWF from 5-7 = exercise time) and treat it like a class. after u routinely go thru this motion, you will find exercising easy to do and feel good about yourself!

my friend gained a nice freshman 45, and a very nice beer belly to go along with it.

The people I know who gained weight (very few) did it, not from drinking, but from smoking pot and getting the munchies. Seriously, my roommate last year gained like 45 pounds that way over about a year and a half.

The way I started to lose weight was I started dancing (swing and latin), it's excellent exercise because they're very fast dances. My campus is HUGE and my freshman year I lived in dorms that gave me a 10-15 minute walk every morning to class. Plus my friends and I were doing other things instead of eating, like running around playing hide and seek tag at the park.
Also, just so everyone knows, sex is probably the best exercise ever (the more often, the better). Seriously, 15 pounds gone in like a month and a half. Just sayin'.
