Did you pick the right school?

Are you satisfied with your choice?
(This is intended for people who have just finished their first year or more at their college)

I love my school, St. John's College, the academic program is everything I wanted and more and the people are great. My only complaint is the location. Santa Fe is beautiful but unless you want to go rafting or mountain climbing (which I often do) there is not much else to do. I didn't think this was going to be a problem when I was in High School, in fact I wanted to be a small town with nothing for miles, but it's annoying sometimes. For example, if I want to go get a snack in the middle of the night, there are no stores for miles. If you want to do anything at all you have to have a car to drive at least fifteen minutes or walk forty-five minutes. Having lived in big cities all my life, I miss the things that they offer. The biggest problem is that once you get downtown there are not many venues for youngsters...Santa Fe is mostly a retirement resort. Even ABQ doesn't offer that much. Bands never come to New Mexico for concerts....I never considered any of this!!!

Luckily, St. John's College has two campuses. I can go to Annapolis. I'm seriously considering this even though it might be smart to stay at the same school and build close relationships with professors who can write good rec's for graduate school. Annapolis is an hours drive away from D.C or Baltimore and NYC is about a three hour drive.

But beside location, I'm very happy with my college decision...how 'bout you?

I love the school I picked. The location is great for me, since I am still rather close to home, and the scenery is beautiful. I like being away from the city for the first time in my life, and with the course load I rarely found myself bored. I made the best group of friends I've ever had, along with an awesome boyfriend. It's hard to believed I learned so much in one year, and I like that my school has the best closely-knit group of highly motivated people interested in aviation that I could ever hope for. I can't believe I only have three years left. The only complaint would be the amount of driving to get somewhere. Even to find a decent restaurant to go out to eat is a 20 minute drive. Just something to get used to though. I can't imagine having to pick a different school and be happy there. I am home for the summer and aching to go back as soon as I can.

I live in Maryland, and my father works in Annapolis, and if you aren't ready to drive about 20-30 minutes to get anywhere interesting, (besides the movies, mall, and harbor) it won't be much of a difference. But then again, I guess everyone thinks the place where they live is the most boring place ever!

Not really. I should have gone to Reed

That's not always true. I'm from California and I never thought it was boring.
