Did your parents give you 'The Talk'?

Haha when I was 11 they started sex ed at school, so no need for the awkwardness :stuck_out_tongue:
However the kids at my elementary school educated me on what sex was when I was, when I was around eight years old.
I hope those kids don’t corrupt my sister until she’s well over ten… well she already knows a few things, she knows a bit about transexuals and lesbians from watching America’s Next Top Model :(

^Lol, that reminds me. I learned what a prostitute was from watching my brother play Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. Good times.

I learned it from Trey Songz. He invented it, apparently.

I explained it to my younger “cousin” (dad’s best friend’s kid that I’ve known since she was born). Her mom is a doctor and gave her a very scientific explanation of sex. They are also VERY sheltered so she hasn’t really seen more than Disney movies.

So, one day driving home from up north, I had to explain to her all about sex, drugs, alcohol, etc. She’s going to be a freshmen in high school! She needs to know this stuff before she gets there.

I am still angry at her mom for not telling her. (I don’t know if her mom ever found out that we had the “talk”.)

Also, since I was the first in my Catholic school to do ANYTHING, I had friends come ask me all the time about things. It was the same when I lost my virginity before pretty much everyone I knew. I STILL get questions sometimes, even at 19! lol

I had to give it to my sister. I simply gave her a clear explanation with all the technical terms. Diagrams from an old Anatomy and Physiology textbook were available for use throughout the discussion.

I think I did a good job of making sex seem very boring, if that is to be counted as a small success.

And my parents never gave me “The Talk.” It was a self-study.

Thanks guys, now this gives me more ideas on how to talk. Do you think I should broach the subject or let it be and wait for them to ask?

Some of the people at my school don’t really know because English is their second language…
In biology we had to fill in the blank
[insert name of fungi] is a type of ______
A girl in my class called out orgasm, and everyone was laughing (all girls school with a male student teacher, yes it is kind of hilarious) except for two girls who didn’t know what an orgasm was.

^ HAHAHAHAHAHA classic :stuck_out_tongue: that’s what my grandma told me lol there is something really weird with us Asians

Hahaha I think I’m one of the few people who can discuss anything sex-related (albeit only references) with an Asian granny

^ I think you are, Asian grannies don’t… really discuss sex, at least with their grandchildren, haha

Yes. Multiple times; starting when I was 8.

My mother is one of those who parents who are a little too open and too eager to talk about sex.

You went to Catholic school Romani? I always thought that you were Jewish… (Not that Jewish people can not go to Catholic school but it is rather odd)

When I was little, I thought that if a guy ever laid in bed with a girl[fully clothed lol] the girl would become pregnant :b

I also thought snow was make believe…as real as unicorns :D

[take into consideration that I lived in LA]

Nope. Only when I hit puberty…my mom only explained to me to be careful (e.g. if any guy touches u, you will get pregnant!–still confused ( iused to think literally hahaha if they touch you inappropriately… LMAO)…and she just explained to me what my period was… yeaaahhh

When I moved back to the states for H.S. i had to take sex ed. freshman year…but my mom had me pulled of it :stuck_out_tongue: i HAD to take it though at the end of that year… (required :/)

Same here, actually  (See location  ).

Haha when I was 12 and I wanted to go to a sleepover my mom didn’t let me go because my friend lived with her brothers and her parents were out :P

They never gave me the talk, but I’m pretty sure they completely deduced that I knew what it was by the time I was 13 or so. We don’t talk about it, and watching anything with remotely sexual content is extremely awkward (even something such as SNL with a skit with “innuendo sex”)

LOL that’s funny. When I was that age, my best friend was a guy and I was allowed to have sleepovers with him XD

^^^ My mom still doesn’t allow me to sleep over at other friends’ houses either because she’s either: a.) paranoid that their dad might drug/do something to me or b.) they have older brothers :P

I feel like i’m still treated like a child it’s not even funny…how sad.

By birth I am Jewish.
By school, I am Catholic (did all the Catholic sacraments, except for marriage and priesthood things).
By raising, am some weird Gypsy-Christian-Wiccan-esque mix.
By choosing, I am some sort of eclectic Buddhist-Wiccan-Gypsy mix.

My uncle is Catholic. He gave my parents money to send me to a Catholic school. It was a LOT better than the district I was in. Neither of my parents are Catholic though. In fact, they are deeply anti-Catholic.
