ah sez gawd-DANG that thur's a funny turn o' phrase.

MariaChristina, worst case you're still from Austin :) Not a tough place to convince college friends to join you for over a winter or spring break.

To everyone else, best of luck, we all do the best we can here. Just think of C02 as C3PO, a raw data automaton with little skill in the art of "time, place and manner" dignity. Who gets somewhat dismembered at an inopportune moment, if I recall correctly.

Well was pretty much expecting it...I only wish that I knew what they said about me when they were going over my app...hmm asian....low test scores?...medicore essay?..

I think I posted this in the other thread... but let me just reiterate my point.

Getting rejected/deferred isn't necessarily indicative of what other "elite" universities may decide. Although none of my deferred and obviously rejected ED friends ended up getting accepted to Columbia, I can tell you that those I know who applied for Columbia RD and ended up getting the rejection letter went to these schools:

Rejected at Fu Foundation --> Accepted at Yale (among other Ivies)

Rejected at Fu Foundation --> Accepted at Princeton (and Penn SEAS)

Rejected at Columbia College --> Accepted at Princeton/MIT/Penn (@MIT)

Rejected at Columbia College --> Accepted at Princeton/MIT Penn (@Penn)

Rejected at Columbia College --> Accepted at, and I sh1t you not, Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Brown, Dartmouth, and a bunch of other schools
A bunch Rejected at Columbia College --> Brown/Dartmouth/Cornell/Penns

I demand that my brilliant C3PO joke get more attention and recognition. I am one of the top 2 or 3 greatest humorists you may ever come across, and that reference there is the distilled essence of humor.

I see CC forums still thrive off the drivel that comes out of people's mouths. Everyone picked at the smallest part of what he had to say and magnified it to ruin the heart of the thread.

I take full credit for the intellectual shoddiness of this thread.

:::Bows, amidst heavy applause:::

Thank you, thank you, I'll be here to the end of my days.

Or, until finals week is over and I forget about this yuppie-infected social-climber bedeviled forum (which I love so) after an extended romp with Jack Daniels, who looks mighty fine even though, alas, he is best straight.

We really ought to have a CollegeConfidential get-together for all Columbia peeps.

And Musil, Jack Daniels is for mixed drinks. You want your whiskey neat, get some Johnnie black (or better yet, gold). Seriously, there's times I think freshman need Drinking 101 added to the core.

.....might as well make my presence known since i spent like 5 minutes amusing myself with the silly bickering that goes on here.....

sorry to hear about all those who got rejected....chin up and good luck with your RD applications!

you know, i just realized that i've really actually only met ONE person from CC in real life....other than u that is....and come to think of I wouldn't really want to....except maybe vesal...but he's too busy being a big shot

I didn't know what the heck C3PO was until I googled it. Sorry!

alright VV, well the campus is a ghost town over break, so you may have to rock it with your working-stiff buddies like Shraf or me, or fellow international students.

or go clubbing and bring home a couple floozies. one or the other. somehow i imagine it'll be the latter. the australian accent just slays them, doesn't it?

I was flat-out rejected by Penn SEAS. I view my rejection as a blessing, though. My parents wanted me to apply there for early decision. My first choices are Columbia Fu Foundation or Dartmouth College (very different, I know). Now, I get a chance to apply to both. It makes me quite happy. That doesn't mean I would've been upset with an acceptance, but my happiness would've came from the security of the acceptance, not knowing that I would be at that school itself.

Everything happens for the best. Many of the schools I'm applying to are reaches. I almost wholeheartedly expect quite a few rejections. You almost have to, and you have to keep in mind that where you get accepted, regardless of the caliber of the school, is no reflection on your actual abilities and talents. You should only apply to a school if you like it. I didn't take my own advice in the early decision round, but I didn't have much of a choice. Anyway, good luck to everyone out there. These next two weeks will be brutal, but we'll make it.
