Difference between Pharmacy & Biotechnology?

<p>I've heard in the past that these go "hand-in-hand" ...But to what extent? What do biotechnologists do/what is their salary as compared to pharmacists?</p>

<p>Pharmacy is about dispensing medicine and answering patient’s questions, double checking prescriptions to make sure the doctor is not killing the patient, managing the pharmacy etc. Biotech is more the development side. It involves research, discovery, refining and improving. What usually happens is a biotech either makes a promising discovery and gets bought by a big pharma company or they don’t and eventually go bust. </p>

<p>Pharmacy is a 4 year professional program.</p>

<p>Biotech it varies. It is an industry rather than an occupations. They employ some scientists at the PhD and BS/MS level, some engineers, and many of the usual occupations HR people, accountants, lawyers, etc…</p>
