so i'm getting a macbook pro and i really want the 15" higher priced one, but it's, obviously, higher priced. i dont know a ton about computers, so i cant tell how big the differences between these 2 models are, if they're even significant. i think they might be, but i'd like to ask anyway. so your expertise is greatly appreciated.

here are the specs:

15" 2.2 GHz

* 2.2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
* 1440 x 900 resolution
* 2GB memory
* 120GB hard drive1
* 8x double-layer SuperDrive
* NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT graphics with 128MB SDRAM

15" 2.4 GHz

* 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
* 1440 x 900 resolution
* 2GB memory
* 160GB hard drive1
* 8x double-layer SuperDrive
* NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT graphics with 256MB SDRAM

thanks!

the second one has a faster processor and more video RAM. I doubt going from 2.2 to 2.4 would be noticeable at all and the video RAM will help in gaming but if youre getting a macbook you probably dont game too much anyway. If you have money to spend the 2.4GHz is slightly better but i odnt think its really worth it

I would go for the 2.2 Ghz. The only differences are the hard drive, processor, and video ram. The hard drive comes down to how much data you plan to put on it so that's up to you. The processor and video ram won't make a difference for you unless you're using high end Pro applications or gaming.

Buy a refurbished unit to save a lot of money. Check their site in the early morning because they sell out fast.

if you do any sort of video editing, professional graphics work, or 3D rendering, get the second one. otherwise the first is more than enough, unless you wanna play oblivion at max settings or something like that

Just out of curiosity, why would you want the higher-priced one if you can't tell the difference between the two?

well, i am gonna be a film major, so i'll probably need to do video editing stuff on it, unless i can use the school's stuff.

so, i'm getting a general consensus that it wouldn't mess me up to get the cheaper one even if i'm video editing? or no? like, if it would be more financially convenient to get the cheaper one?

I plan on doing a lot of video editing/3d animation/visual effect on mine and I got the lower one. You should be fine.
