What is the definition of “bro culture”?

While we’re defining bro culture, I’m curious about Exie’s definition of preppy, beyond dress. Is it possible to be preppy without the dress? Having grown up in a very preppy MA town, I’ve always thought of the attitude as coming with the clothes. :)

I’m enjoying this thread while trapped here in the frozen sticks of New England! I think that “bro” has something to do with lacrosse players. At least that’s what one of my children told me when they refused a nice item of clothing from a family friend, as in “Too bro, I could never wear that”. And no, the item was not lime green pants LOL.

Pretty simple. The school color is green. If you are required to wear dress pants to the football game, why not wear green ones.

Well then, I guess I’m grateful then that our school colors are blue and gold LOL.

@Alexz825Mom - have a recent graduate, trust me 4 months in the school haven’t opened your daughter’s eyes yet.
“bros” are usually not preppy, although preppies may be bro. The term originated with the lifestyle of fraternity brothers. Think of all the bad aspects of frats and you will come close to understanding the bro culture.
@baystate - beauty is in the eye of the beholder - some people prefer lime green to blue and gold
