Would you likely go to Harvard in a Local High school or difficult high school(college preps)?

Either one. When colleges say they view your accomplishments in the context of the opportunities you had, they really mean it.

For me, I’d definitely say a more difficult school. I don’t work so hard unless I’m pushed, so the atmosphere at a top school will help me.

Since you have a choice, go to the school where you would learn more. You can get into a good college from any high school.
Whatever benefit you think you’d get from going to a bad high school is based on the assumption that you had no other choice.

I can say with near-certainty that Harvard is going to reject you no matter where you go. Look at the acceptance rate.

actually, i don’t have a choice; im going to the local high school because we’re gonna buya house at that area. there’s a great chance i can be accepted in the college prep, but we can’t move in that district so… i’m bummered.

good bye HYPSM … well, i will apply… but ill be definitely rejected… hmph… hahaha…

Okay, but what’s the point of asking?
Like others have said, your application will be considered in the context of your school. You won’t be directly compared to people who had more opportunities.

But I hope you understand that this is because it’s Harvard and not because you’re going to a local public school. (I’m pretty sure most Harvard matriculants went to a public school.)

i’m asking because i want to know if my effort on convincing my parents to move is worthy.

If money isn’t an issue, you don’t have to move to go to a fancy high school…just go to a boarding school.

But there’s no special college admissions benefit to going to a prep school if you’re already self-motivated. At a lower-achieving school you can stand out more and you won’t look overprivileged.

Meanwhile, I think you should get some perspective. You’re asking your parents to move for no reason and expect that they’ll actually entertain the thought?
You’re barely fourteen years old and you’ve already made a million threads asking about little things that won’t even matter for college admissions in the end. Just focus on learning this year.

i guess you’re right…but well… i want to plan early… can’t help it
